Can gout patients eat tofu?

2021-12-06

When eating out, I often meet people at the same table who say they don't eat tofu. I asked: why? The other party replied: I have gout. The doctor said I can't eat beans. Last year, the author was invited to teach the training course of "health manager" in various towns and streets of Dongguan. When talking about the nutrition of beans and bean products, some students raised their hands and said that my family had gout, and the doctor said they could not eat beans. In the wechat group related to dietary health, some friends also said: Although tofu is rich in nutrition, the doctor said it can't be eaten! So, can gout patients eat beans? Can I have tofu? No hurry, let's first understand the nutritional treatment principles of gout. As we all know, the purpose of nutritional treatment is to reduce the level of blood uric acid and increase the excretion of uric acid by limiting purine diet and adopting low-energy, low-fat and low protein diet, so as to prevent the acute attack of gout and alleviate the symptoms of gout attack. Then the principles of nutritional treatment should be based on these purposes. The principles of nutritional treatment mainly include the following five points: 1. Dietary restriction Adopt low purine diet to control purine intake. During acute arthritis attack, dietary purine intake must be strictly limited to less than 150mg / day. Especially in the first 3 days of acute attack, food that basically does not contain purine or little purine should be selected, which can be increased appropriately after the condition is relieved. 2. Total dietary energy should be controlled Generally, the daily energy intake is 0.10-0.13mj/kg (25 ~ 30kcal / kg), in which protein is 0.8 ~ 1.0g / (kg. D), and fat should not be too high, about 50g / day. As the main source of energy, carbohydrates should account for 50% ~ 60% of energy. If gout patients are obese, they should pay attention to step by step in the process of weight loss, and avoid losing weight too fast, otherwise it is easy to cause the body to produce a large number of ketones, compete with uric acid, inhibit excretion, increase the level of blood uric acid, and lead to acute attack of gout. 3. Choose vegetarian food The solubility of uric acid in urine is related to pH value. With the increase of pH value, the solubility of uric acid increases and promotes excretion. Therefore, it is recommended to eat more alkaline foods, such as fresh vegetables, fruits, milk, nuts, seaweed, watermelon, white gourd, etc. 4. Develop good living habits Drink more than 2500ml of water every day and avoid drinking and alcoholic beverages; Eat less pungent condiments. Overeating or eating a large amount of meat at one time is often the cause of the acute attack of gouty arthritis. Diet should be regular and quantitative, and a small amount of meals can be taken; Exercise properly every day and pay attention to the combination of work and rest. 5. Others It is mainly inappropriate to take drugs that affect uric acid excretion, such as vitamin B1, vitamin B12, niacin, etc. One sentence summary: gout patients should drink more water, eat more vegetables, don't drink alcohol and eat less meat. According to purine content, food is generally divided into three categories. The first kind of low purine food, 100g food contains less than 50mg purine; The second category is purine food. 100g food contains 50 ~ 150mg purine; The third kind of high purine food, 100g food contains 150 ~ 1000mg purine. Gout patients should eat more low purine foods, less medium purine foods, and not high purine foods. Soybeans, mung beans, red beans, flower beans, peas, kidney beans, green beans, green beans, black beans, etc. belong to the second category of purine foods. Soybeans need to be soaked before making tofu, and then the soaked water is poured out, and a large number of purines soluble in water are removed. Therefore, the purine of tofu is not high and belongs to low purine food. Among the purine content per 100 grams of food, grass shrimp is the highest, 719 mg; The second is pig liver and soybean, which are more than 200mg; As for grass carp and pork, they are more than 100mg; The purine content of chicken was 84.4 mg; Compared with the above foods, the purine content of tofu is only 20mg. Wei Liping, director, deputy chief physician and professor of Nutrition Department of integrated traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital of Southern Medical University and editor in chief of the unified textbook of public nutritionist of Guangdong Province, has repeatedly told doctors and experts that tofu is a typical low purine food and is very suitable for people with high uric acid. Beans are medium purine food, and tofu is low purine food. Therefore, patients with gout can eat tofu at ease! (outlook new era)
