The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the 21st, announcing its decision to downgrade the diplomatic relations between the neutral two countries to the level of agent. The full text of the statement is as follows: On November 18, despite China's solemn protests and repeated representations, Lithuania allowed the Taiwan authorities to set up a "Taiwan Representative Office in Lithuania". This blatantly creates "one China, one Taiwan" in the international community, betrays the political commitments made by the third party in the communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, damages China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and grossly interferes in China's internal affairs. China expressed strong dissatisfaction and solemn protest against this and decided to lower the diplomatic relations between the neutral two countries to the level of agent. There is only one China in the world, and the government of the people's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China. The one China principle is a general consensus and recognized norm of international relations in the international community and the political basis for the development of bilateral relations between China and Lithuania. Proceeding from the goodwill of maintaining neutral relations, the Chinese government has repeatedly warned the cube not to do anything treacherous. Unfortunately, Lithuania ignores the solemn position of the Chinese government, ignores the overall situation of bilateral relations and the basic norms of international relations, and insists on allowing the establishment of a "representative office" in Lithuania in the name of Taiwan, creating a bad precedent in the world. In view of the destruction of the political basis for the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Liberia at the ambassadorial level, the Chinese government had to lower the diplomatic relations between the neutral two countries to the level of agent in order to safeguard its sovereignty and the basic norms of international relations. The Lithuanian government must bear all the consequences arising therefrom. We urge the Chinese side to correct its mistakes immediately and not to underestimate the Chinese people's strong determination, firm will and strong ability to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity. We also warn Taiwan that Taiwan has never been a country. No matter how the "Taiwan independence" forces distort the facts and confuse black and white, they will not change the historical fact that both the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China.
