Hong Kong's unemployment rate fell to 4.3% from August to October

According to the latest labor force statistics released by the Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government on the 16th, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Hong Kong fell from 4.5% from July to September 2021 to 4.3% from August to October 2021. Statistics show that the underemployment rate also fell from 2.1% from July to September 2021 to 1.9% from August to October 2021. The total employment increased from 3.658 million from July to September to 3.665 million from August to October, an increase of about 8500. From August to October, the unemployment rate in all major economic sectors in Hong Kong fell. With regard to the unemployment rate, there were relatively significant declines in the building decoration, repair and maintenance industry, catering service activities industry, arts, entertainment and recreational activities industry. Luo Zhiguang, Secretary for labour and welfare of the HKSAR government, said that as the economy continues to recover, the labour market continues to improve, but the extent of improvement will depend on the pace of economic recovery.
