2021-10-26

On October 25 local time, State Councilor and foreign minister Wang Yi met with Acting Deputy Prime Minister Baradar of the Afghan Taliban interim government in Doha during his visit to Qatar. Wang Yi said that at present, Afghanistan is at a critical stage from chaos to governance, ushering in a historic opportunity to truly grasp its own destiny, achieve inclusiveness and reconciliation and promote national reconstruction. At the same time, it also faces four challenges: humanitarian, economic, counter-terrorism and governance. Overcoming these difficulties requires more understanding and support from the international community. It is also hoped that atta will further show openness and inclusiveness, unite all ethnic groups and factions in Afghanistan, work together for peaceful reconstruction, effectively protect the rights and interests of women and children, pursue a good neighborly and friendly policy, and build a modern country in line with the aspirations of the people and the trend of the times. Wang Yi said that China has always respected the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Afghanistan and supported the Afghan people in independently deciding their country's destiny and choosing their development path. China has never interfered in Afghanistan's internal affairs, never sought private interests, never sought sphere of influence, firmly pursued a friendly policy towards all Afghan people, and supported the efforts to stabilize and rebuild Afghanistan. China attaches importance to the current humanitarian difficulties in Afghanistan, urges the United States and the west to lift sanctions, and calls on all parties to make rational and pragmatic contacts with atta to help Afghanistan embark on a path of sound development. China is willing to continue to provide humanitarian material assistance within its capabilities and work with the international community to help Afghanistan alleviate temporary difficulties and achieve economic reconstruction and independent development. Wang Yi stressed that the "East Iraq movement" is an international terrorist organization listed by the United Nations Security Council, which poses a real threat to China's national security and territorial integrity and also endangers Afghanistan's domestic stability and long-term stability. He hoped and believed that atta would completely draw a clear line with all terrorist organizations such as the "East Iraq movement" and take effective measures to resolutely crack down on it. Baladar introduced the current situation in Afghanistan and said that the overall situation in Afghanistan is controllable and good, governments at all levels are gradually established, government decrees are unblocked, and efforts are being made to meet the needs of the people. Afghanistan will learn from historical experience and take a development path in line with its national conditions. It has taken and will continue to take inclusive measures to expand the representation of the regime. Most officials and professional and technical personnel of the former government have remained in office. In the future, it will absorb more outstanding talents from all ethnic groups to participate in national governance. Atta is willing to make greater efforts to protect the rights and interests of women and children and will not deprive them of their rights to education and work. At present, women in medical institutions, airports and other places have resumed work, and many girls in primary and secondary schools in the province have resumed school, but they are still facing difficulties such as insufficient facilities and funds. It is hoped that China and the international community will increase their assistance to Afghanistan, help Afghanistan overcome the humanitarian crisis and get on the right track of development. Baladar stressed that China is an important neighbor of Afghanistan and thanked China for its respect and friendship during Afghanistan's difficult period. Pursuing a friendly policy towards China is atta's firm choice and hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in all fields. Atta attaches great importance to China's security concerns, will resolutely fulfill its commitments, and will never allow anyone or any force to use Afghan territory to do anything harmful to China. During his stay in Doha, Wang Yi will also meet with acting foreign minister Mottaki of the Afghan interim government. (outlook new era)
