As a participant in the construction of the Yawan high-speed railway, Yu Baikun often recalls more than 1800 days and nights of laughter and tears with his teammates. He can't remember how many nights he stayed up to overcome technical difficulties, let alone how many times he soaked himself in the tropical "steamer". However, he deeply remembers the 1066 box girder prefabrication and erection tasks completed by the Yawan High Speed Rail No. 4 beam yard, which were the "hard and resounding" transcripts handed over by his youth assault team. Like a steel dragon, the Jakarta Wanzhou high-speed railway connects Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and Bandung, the famous tourist city. It is the "golden signboard" of the "the Belt and Road" jointly built by China and Indonesia, with a total length of 142 kilometers. It officially opened for operation on October 17, 2023 and has been operating steadily and safely on Java Island for over half a year. In May 2021, Yu Baikun (first from the left) and colleagues conducted GPS alignment for the roadbed construction section. In the early stages of construction, there were constant urgent, difficult, dangerous, and heavy tasks, and there was an urgent need for a "new force" to open up the situation. In June 2018, a youth assault team consisting of technical backbone was established at the Indonesia Jakarta Bandung High Speed Railway Project Department of China Railway Fourth Bureau, one of the construction units. "I remember we received an urgent task to complete over 20 kilometers of leveling joint survey within 8 days. During the day, we carried 30 pounds of instruments and walked step by step under the scorching sun, measuring in sections. At night, we also had to go to the office to collect data in a timely manner." Kang Xiaorui, a member of the young assault team and a "90" post survey engineer, said, "Those days were almost no time to rest. My legs were as heavy and sore as lead, but no one shouted for pain or fatigue, and the task was successfully completed." As the construction of the project continued, the number of young assault team members gradually increased from more than 10 to 41, and they had to take the lead in undertaking the 27.55 full length of the Yawan high-speed railway main line. "The construction task for kilometers includes prefabrication and installation of box girders, bridges, stations, high-speed train stations, and other engineering projects. After joining the assault team in 2018, Yu Baikun's first task was to build an information control system for the No. 4 beam field. The No. 4 beam yard is the most standardized beam yard on the entire line, and also the first overseas "smart beam yard" of China's high-speed rail. Without experience to follow, he learned and worked at the same time. Based on the existing information system of the enterprise and combined with the actual needs of the project, he integrated new systems such as visualization, plan management warning, and intelligent tensioning and grouting, achieving information management and control of construction quality, safety, and progress through a single screen. In March 2022, Yu Baikun (first from the right) inspected the construction site. Java Island is located at the intersection of the Eurasian Plate, Pacific Plate, and Indian Ocean Plate, with frequent volcanoes and earthquakes, and an extremely complex geological environment. Especially the geological conditions of volcanic deposits that are prone to swelling and collapse when exposed to water have caused great difficulties for the construction team. In order to make the soil from "soft" to "hard" and provide stable support for high-speed trains, the youth assault team once again plays an important role. Niu Yanxin, the deputy manager of the second division of the project department, and Zhu Chengquan, the chief engineer of the second division, led a team to establish a research and development team. They "soak" in the construction site every day to measure data, conduct geological surveys, and investigate information. We have innovatively developed a set of railway bridge construction workers suitable for the special environment here through on-site practice, combined with local labor efficiency and material supply situation
