The Patriotic Education Working Group of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government held its first meeting on the 29th. After the meeting, the Secretary for Administration of the Special Administrative Region Government, Chen Guoji, stated that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The Special Administrative Region Government will launch an event with the theme of "Patriotism, Love for Hong Kong, Love for Communities". We are currently making every effort to prepare for the event and will closely communicate and coordinate with the working group to create a warm atmosphere in Hong Kong society and enhance the patriotic awareness of Hong Kong citizens. The Patriotic Education Working Group, established on the 8th of this month, is under the supervision of the Promotion and Supervision Committee of the Constitution and Basic Law of the Special Administrative Region Government. Its aim is to coordinate with government departments and non-governmental organizations to promote patriotic education, align with the content of the Patriotic Education Law of the People's Republic of China, strengthen national historical and cultural education at different levels, inherit and promote the spirit of patriotism. The focus of its work is divided into four categories: school education, local communities, historical and political and economic culture, and media publicity. Chen Guoji, who also serves as the Chairman of the Committee for the Promotion and Supervision of the Constitution and Basic Law, introduced that the working group decided at its first meeting to refer to the Patriotic Education Law of the People's Republic of China and, in response to the actual situation in Hong Kong, to promote patriotism and love for Hong Kong as the core value of Hong Kong, to carry out diversified educational activities, so that patriotism can take root in Hong Kong society and penetrate the hearts of the people. The specific work points include: carrying out diversified educational activities outside of the curriculum on primary and secondary school campuses to stimulate student interest; By introducing soft methods such as national history and development achievements, students can develop emotional identification with the country; Better integrate and coordinate the efforts of the special economic zone government and civil society organizations, and make good use of civil resources and networks to achieve synergistic effects. Li Huiqiong, the leader of the Patriotic Education Working Group and a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, stated that the working group will closely coordinate with relevant departments in the near future to inject elements of patriotic education into the activities related to the 75th anniversary of the National Day in the special zone, highlighting the spirit of patriotism. She also introduced the various measures determined by the working group after referring to the Patriotic Education Law of the People's Republic of China, covering school education, extracurricular practice, experiential activities, cultural activities, museum education, commemorative ceremonies, traditional festivals, mass media, and civil servant training.
