American style human rights have become a private tool of hegemony

2024-04-25

Protecting human life, values, and dignity, and realizing the enjoyment of human rights by all, is a common pursuit of human society. Protecting human rights is a noble ideal proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. However, as the drafting country of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United States disregards international treaty obligations and international justice, turning human rights into a private tool to uphold American hegemony, which goes against the trend of global human rights development. Named the "lighthouse of human rights," it actually bullies the weak. The right to survival and development are the primary basic human rights, which are equally enjoyed and inalienable by people of all countries in the world. The United States regards itself as a "beacon of human rights", but human rights are often an excuse for its hegemonic bullying. The US hegemonic system is an unequal structure based on power, with the central country occupying a monopolistic position. Any country that does not comply with US style hegemony or is not conducive to maintaining US hegemony will become the target of US suppression. In order to maintain its hegemonic interests, the United States, based on its control over the global economic system, has transformed unilateral sanctions into a legal power similar to the medieval pope's expulsion from Christianity, often imposing sanctions and expelling "spherical citizenship" from other countries under the guise of human rights. As of the end of 2022, the United States has imposed economic sanctions on nearly 40 countries, affecting half of the global population. These sanctions seriously impact the economic foundation of the affected countries, artificially create development difficulties for the affected countries, and invisibly deprive the people of the affected countries of their right to survival and development, ultimately leading to catastrophic consequences. Self proclaimed as a "defender of human rights", in fact, it is a major infringing country. War is the greatest violation of human rights, and the United States is precisely a belligerent hegemonic country. From 1776 to 2019, the United States launched nearly 400 overseas military interventions, and the war on terror alone directly or indirectly resulted in 4.5 million deaths, making it a well-known creator of humanitarian crises. The United States uses the "Foreign Agent Plan" to change regimes in other countries, benefits from proxy wars, and violates international human rights law by providing depleted uranium and cluster bombs to international conflicting parties. It is truly a regional conflict maker. The United States has established over 800 military bases in more than 80 countries and regions, engaged in so-called bilateral alliances, "trilateral partners," "quadrilateral dialogue," and "Five Eyes Alliance," continuously intensifying factional confrontation and arms race, and is a true war risk maker. This human rights "defender" is willing to sacrifice human rights and achieve its hegemonic cause. Advocating "human rights diplomacy" actually serves hegemony. The United States proposed "human rights diplomacy" in the late 1970s, claiming that human rights were the cornerstone of its foreign policy. But in the face of hegemonic interests, the United States has always adhered to a human rights strategy of using what is appropriate and abandoning what is not. The United States has led or participated in the drafting of many international human rights treaties and documents, occupying an advantage in standard setting, but it has ratified or joined fewer major human rights treaties than other countries in the G20. The United States is the only United Nations member that has not ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child and has refused to ratify important human rights documents such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The United States regards the United Nations Human Rights Council as a child's play, and once stubbornly withdraws. After returning, it forms cliques to politicize human rights and uses this international platform to increase its support for China
