Liao Bo Holds "Silk Art Inheritance" Exhibition to Reproduce the Artistic Style of Chinese Weaving and Embroidery

The "Silk Art Inheritance" exhibition was held at the Liaoning Provincial Museum on the 21st. The exhibits are selected from the collection of embroidery, tapestry, and silk weaving artworks produced in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. It comprehensively and systematically showcases the development process of embroidery skills in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China and today. On April 21st, the Liaoning Provincial Museum held an exhibition on "Inheritance of Silk Art", showcasing the weaving and embroidery artworks made with embroidery, silk tapestry, and weaving techniques during the early days of the founding of New China. The exhibition is divided into seven units, including art weaving and embroidery from the Republic of China period, Su embroidery, Xiang embroidery, embroidery from various regions, Kesi, inheritance and innovation, and the past and future of Liaoning tussah silk. The aim is to let people experience the charm of Chinese weaving and embroidery art and cultural inheritance, and promote excellent traditional Chinese culture. It is reported that all exhibits in this exhibition are works of art, with the works of Suzhou embroidery masters and Hunan embroidery masters in the early days of the founding of New China being the most precious. The 10 exhibited works of contemporary Suzhou embroidery, Hunan embroidery, Guangxiu, and Kesi masters represent the highest level of embroidery and Kesi art in China. At the same time, in order to reflect regional characteristics, the exhibition showcased the silk weaving techniques of Liaoning since the establishment of the People's Republic of China. Two newly collected works of Liaoning tussah silk weaving were exhibited together, vividly showcasing the inheritance and development of Liaoning weaving and embroidery art. This exhibition is divided into seven units, including art weaving and embroidery from the Republic of China period, Suzhou embroidery, Hunan embroidery, embroidery from various regions, silk tapestry, inheritance and innovation, etc. The picture shows the curator introducing the "Silk Art Inheritance" exhibition. It is worth noting that a double-sided embroidery piece titled "Colorful Peony" by Tong Huige caught people's attention. This is the earliest true double-sided embroidery work, and according to surveys, it was found that this is the work of three Suzhou embroidery artists, including Li Eying, and occupies an extremely important position in the development history of double-sided embroidery. According to Park Wen ying, a research librarian at the Liaoning Provincial Museum, the double-sided embroidery "Five Colored Peony" is a white satin floor that uses double-sided embroidery techniques to embroider a cluster of blooming peonies. In 1955, under the advice and guidance of Zhu Feng, three Suzhou embroidery artists, Li Eying, Wang Zushi, and Cai Wenhua, embroidered the first double-sided embroidery "Five Colored Peony" inset. After more than 70 days of hard work, the embroidery was successfully completed. This artwork is the first to use innovative loose needle technique to embroider double-sided embroidery. From then on, Suzhou's double-sided embroidery became a representative of Suzhou embroidery and was promoted to various embroidery production areas across the country. In the exhibition, the double-sided embroidery "Colorful Peony" was exhibited, which is the earliest true double-sided embroidery work. According to the investigation, it was found that this is the work of three Suzhou embroidery artists, including Li Eying, and occupies an extremely important position in the development history of double-sided embroidery. Reporter Han Hong showcased representative weaving and embroidery artifacts from the early New China era, including the works of two Suzhou embroidery masters, Li Eying and Zhou Xunxian. The works of Xiang embroidery design masters such as Yu Xinnong, Li Kaiyun, and Shao Yiping are also very precious. The works provided by contemporary masters of Suzhou embroidery, Xiang embroidery, Guang embroidery, and Kesi represent the highest level of embroidery and Kesi art today.
