On April 16th, the Supreme People's Court, together with the All China Women's Federation, held an open day for the protection of the rights and interests of women and children under the theme of "Respecting Women, Caring for Children, Active Performance of Duties and Law". Representatives from the National People's Congress, members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and members of the All China Women's Federation were invited to visit and discuss. Zhang Jun, Secretary of the Party Group and President of the Supreme People's Court, Secretary and Vice Chairman of the Party Group and First Secretary of the Secretariat of the All China Women's Federation, and Huang Xiaowei, Deputy Director of the Women and Children's Work Committee of the State Council, attended the event and delivered speeches. Deng Xiuming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group of the Supreme People's Court and Vice President in charge of daily work, presided over the launch ceremony of the event and reported on the recent progress of the People's Court in protecting the rights and interests of women and children. The attendees visited the exhibition on protecting the rights and interests of women and children, watched short films on family trial work adapted from real cases, and simulated court trial legal dramas. Judges Wang Dan and Zhao Junfu of the First Court of the Supreme People's Court introduced the reform of family trials in people's courts, the criminal trial work for the protection of minors, and typical cases of protecting the rights and interests of women and children. During the symposium and exchange, National People's Congress deputies Chen Haiyi, Fang Yan, Zhao Lixin, and Ruan Xiangyan, as well as members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Fang and Meng Yan, discussed their feelings and provided suggestions on how the people's courts can effectively protect the rights and interests of women and children. Zhang Jun demanded that we address the issue of juvenile delinquency by addressing both the root and root causes, and implementing both punishment and prevention measures, so that the trial can become both a "court" for punishing minors who have committed misconduct and a "classroom" for saving education. To address the issues that affect the healthy growth of minors, we need to take practical measures to address the front line and prevent diseases. Through judicial protection, we can promote the coordinated efforts of family protection, school protection, social protection, network protection, and government protection to jointly safeguard the healthy growth of minors. To address the issue of insufficient comprehensive protection of the rights and interests of minors, efforts should be made to integrate criminal, civil, and administrative protection. In the process of handling cases involving minors, attention should be paid to the protection of civil, administrative rights and interests, prevention and punishment of criminal offenses, and maintenance of public interests, in order to implement the principle of maximizing the interests of minors. In response to the changes in marriage and family disputes, we must strengthen the guidance and regulation of the rule of law. In protecting the legitimate rights and interests of women in the family, cracking down on employment discrimination against women, and combating domestic violence in accordance with the law, we must always adhere to the position of safeguarding women's "fair rights, fair opportunities, and fair rules", and promote good social customs. Huang Xiaowei pointed out that safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of women and children is a common responsibility of the whole society.
