2024-04-12

The 8th Border Defense Friendly Exchange Event between China and Vietnam was held from April 11th to 12th, with Dong Jun and the Vietnamese Minister of Defense attending and holding talks. The 8th Border Defense Friendly Exchange Event between China and Vietnam was held in Hekou, Yunnan, Laojie, Vietnam, and related port areas. Defense Minister Dong Jun and Vietnamese Minister of Defense Pan Wenjiang led delegations to attend and hold talks respectively. Dong Jun said that holding this border defense friendly exchange activity is a specific measure to implement the important consensus of the top leaders of the two parties. China is willing to inherit the profound friendship of "comrades and brothers" with Vietnam, firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, and elevate the strategic mutual trust between the two armies to a new height. Both sides should actively expand practical cooperation in areas such as personnel training, group visits, and political work, endow national defense friendly exchange activities with more new connotations, make maritime cooperation a new highlight of military cooperation, enhance the ability to jointly maintain maritime security, and contribute to the construction of a strategically significant China Vietnam community with a shared future. Pan Wenjiang expressed gratitude to China for its assistance in Vietnam's national liberation struggle and national construction. Vietnam has always regarded the development of Vietnam China relations as a diplomatic priority and is willing to work with China to take the "six changes" as a guide to push bilateral defense relations to new heights. Both sides signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a hotline between the Southern Theater Command and the Vietnamese Navy, and carried out activities such as drawing red lines for boundary markers, planting friendship trees together, observing joint land patrols by the border defense forces of the two countries, and visiting local primary schools.
