Within the year, the high-energy synchrotron radiation light source of the Huairou Science City's large scientific facility is expected to emit the "first beam of light", and the urban living rooms A and B plots will also be fully operational. The high-energy synchrotron radiation light source emits the "first beam of light" in this year. As one of the major scientific devices in China, the high-energy synchrotron radiation light source is the core device of the large scientific device cluster in Huairou Science City jointly built by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing. After completion, it will become China's first high-energy synchrotron radiation light source and one of the fourth generation synchrotron radiation light sources with the highest brightness in the world. It can emit light 1 trillion times brighter than the sun, which helps to analyze the microstructure and evolution mechanism of matter at a deeper level, and provides a high-tech research platform to enhance China's development strategy and original innovation capabilities in cutting-edge basic science and technology fields. In 2023, there were frequent reports of success for the high-energy synchrotron radiation light source project, and the high-energy light source linear accelerator and enhancer have successively completed equipment installation, debugging, and beam current debugging. Through the process acceptance organized by the engineering command center, all indicators have reached or exceeded the acceptance indicators, and the overall performance has reached the international advanced level of similar devices. At present, the batch processing and testing work of equipment such as vacuum, beam control, injection and extraction, high frequency, and low temperature, as well as beam line stations, is being intensively promoted, and the first beam of light is expected to be launched by the end of this year. "This year, we will resolutely complete the task of adjusting the beam of the storage ring and emitting the 'first beam of light' from the device, and make new contributions to achieving self-reliance in high level science and technology and building a scientific and technological power," said Pan Weimin, chief director of the High Energy Synchrotron Radiation Light Source Project of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The A and B plots of the living room of Huairou Science City will soon be unveiled, along with the scientific facilities platform. The urban supporting construction of Huairou Science City will also usher in new progress. The urban living room A and B plot projects located in the starting area of Huairou Science City have entered the final stage of overall construction and are about to be unveiled. Zheng Xinfeng, General Manager of Beijing Huairou Science City Construction and Development Co., Ltd., introduced that the urban living room is positioned as an international public service center for domestic and foreign scientists, a model for external exhibition of Huairou Science City, and a vibrant center for scientific research and technology industry. It will integrate and create five major functions, including scientific research and development, scientific services, cultural and commercial facilities, high-end hotels and apartments, and research-oriented colleges. It is an important part of Huairou Science City's construction of a new urban form. It is reported that the urban living room project consists of three plots A, B, and C, with a total land area of 24.23 hectares and a total construction area of approximately 646000 square meters. Among them, the total land area of Urban Living Room A plot is 10.81 hectares, with a total construction area of 199200 square meters. Its main functions include scientific research offices, research-oriented colleges, supporting hotels, cultural facilities, and supporting commercial facilities. Public green space and underground space resources will be comprehensively utilized, and a "Urban Public Vitality Park" will be planned to create a multi-functional, shared, open, and vibrant public space model.
