Home school medical societies work together to safeguard the mental health of students

The winter vacation is coming to an end, and students from all over the country are also returning to campus one after another. In the new semester, the mental health status of children is highly concerned by parents, schools, and society. According to relevant data, the overall mental health level of primary and secondary school students in China is good. However, the proportion of students in areas such as depression, anxiety, academic fatigue, internet addiction, and self harm behavior is on the rise. How should all sectors of society build protective barriers for the beautiful minds of young people in the face of an increasing number of mental health problems among them? To this end, in 2023, the Ministry of Education and 17 other departments jointly issued the Special Action Plan for Strengthening and Improving the Mental Health Work of Students in the New Era (2023-2025), and established the National Student Mental Health Work Advisory Committee in November of the same year. On February 21st, at the first plenary meeting of the National Student Mental Health Work Advisory Committee held by the Ministry of Education, experts discussed how to protect the mental health of students and called for strengthening the collaboration between families, schools, medical societies, and multiple measures to promote the mental health of adolescents and children. Establishing a scientific parenting concept and creating a good family environment is closely related to the psychological health development of students and the parenting concepts and methods of parents. "At present, the lack of family upbringing behavior and irrational family upbringing concepts are quite obvious, and the ability of family upbringing urgently needs to be improved," said Lu Yongli, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Principal of Beijing Second Experimental Primary School. According to her observation, in primary school, the lack of family parenting behavior is more common in families with the four elders as the main caregivers. These families lack necessary "management" and "teaching" behaviors due to excessive care, resulting in a serious underage behavior and psychological state of primary school students when and after entering school. The insufficient reserve of mental health knowledge among parents is also a common problem in family education. Lu Lin, an academician of the CAS Member and president of the Sixth Hospital of Peking University, found that many parents could not identify and intervene in time when children showed signs of depression, anxiety and other emotional or other psychological problems. In addition, some parents and students have biases towards mental health issues, fearing being labeled and discriminated against, which may affect their future education and employment. Therefore, they refuse to seek help from professionals or do not cooperate with treatment. Regarding this, Shangguan Jinxue, a psychological counselor at Nanjing 12355 Youth Service Desk, pointed out that the psychological health of adolescents cannot be separated from their family environment system. Improving the family environment, promoting communication and exchange among family members, and improving the family support system are of great significance for improving the psychological status of adolescents. She suggested conducting parent schools and vocational education to enhance parental education concepts, enhance parent-child relationships, and enhance interactive communication skills, in order to help families improve their parenting abilities in terms of knowledge and skills; At the same time, we will strive to provide parents with sufficient family time in the system, allowing them time to return to their families and accompany their children's growth. How to better prevent, identify, and intervene in student mental health issues in school education by enhancing teacher psychological literacy and strengthening psychological education? Dong Qi, the director and professor of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning, Beijing Normal University, suggested strengthening the popularization of mental health knowledge for all teachers, improving the teacher's mental health training system, and creating
