Data shows that the number of tourists to key cultural and tourism attractions in China has reached 123 million, an increase of 22.8% compared to the same period in 2023. As of 11:42 on February 14th, the total box office (including pre-sales) of the 2024 Spring Festival period (February 10th to February 17th) has exceeded 5 billion yuan. Various regions across the country actively hold Spring Festival cultural and tourism consumption month activities, distributing over 600 million yuan of cultural and tourism consumption subsidies to benefit the people. A set of vivid consumption data reflects the soaring consumption during the Spring Festival, highlighting the strong momentum of China's economy. The Ministry of Commerce has designated 2024 as the "Consumer Promotion Year", marking the first of 12 key activities throughout the year. Since its launch on January 18, the "2024 National Online New Year Goods Festival" has seen online retail sales reach nearly 800 billion yuan, achieving a "red start" for online consumption in 2024. During the Spring Festival, the people's demand for tourism, leisure, and cultural consumption is concentrated and released. In recent days, streets and alleys across the country have been decorated with colorful lights, filled with joy, and various New Year activities have begun with the sound of gongs. The splendid folk performances, colorful garden lantern festivals, and unique local culture depict a beautiful picture of the flourishing era of dragons, and also bring to life the memories of the New Year. According to big data monitoring by the Ministry of Commerce, the passenger flow in commercial districts across the country has significantly increased, with a year-on-year increase of 26.9% and 21.7% in the passenger flow and revenue of the National Demonstration Pedestrian Street on New Year's Eve. "This year's Spring Festival consumer market has presented many new characteristics, highlighting cultural characteristics even more." Xu Xingfeng, Director of the Market Operation and Consumer Promotion Department of the Ministry of Commerce, said that the "dragon" element trend new products are popular, and the atmosphere of traditional cultural consumption such as shopping at markets, admiring flower lanterns, and watching performances is becoming increasingly strong. This year's Spring Festival consumption promotion activities highlight the integration of business, tourism, culture, sports, and health, meeting the diverse consumption needs of the people. The Ministry of Commerce, in line with the consumption wishes of the people, launched the festival scenes of burning winter ice and snow, the China-Chic of the Laba Festival, the happy Yuanxiao (Filled round balls made of glutinous rice-flour for Lantern Festival), and the new spring day, creating a happy atmosphere of welcoming the New Year and celebrating the New Year.
