A certain brigade of the Air Force of the Western Theater Command is working together to solve the living difficulties of officers and soldiers stationed on the plateau

At this time last year, there was still a shortage of water. This year, the dormitory was connected to tap water, and everyone no longer worries about water. In the cold winter of the twelfth month, the snow covered plateau and the chill hit. However, the soldiers of a radar station in a certain brigade of the Western Theater Command Air Force felt a warm current in their hearts - after years of construction, this radar station located on a high mountain with an altitude of over 4000 meters finally connected to tap water. This water supply pipeline has been eagerly anticipated by the officers and soldiers. It is reported that in the past, it was very difficult to lay water pipelines due to factors such as high altitude of the position, thick rock layers on the mountaintop, and high requirements for well drilling technology. In order to alleviate the difficulty of water supply for officers and soldiers, various measures have been taken by relevant military and civilian departments in recent years. They have equipped radar stations with water trucks and built large water cellars, but the capacity of the water cellars is limited. If there is heavy snow blocking the mountains, the water trucks cannot go up, and officers and soldiers will face difficulties in using water. Four years ago, the party committee of the brigade found a suitable construction party to undertake the task of drilling wells on the plateau through multiple visits and research. However, due to factors such as climate conditions and geographical environment, the construction team repeatedly surveyed and changed the construction direction several times before selecting a suitable location to drill a well. On the day the well was opened, the officers and soldiers were overjoyed to see the gushing well water. They sent water quality samples to testing institutions, but the test results were not satisfactory - the well water did not meet drinking standards. For this reason, they specifically consulted with water quality testing institutions and purchased and installed a large water purification equipment to solve the problem of substandard water quality. The water source and quality issues have been resolved, but the transportation of water has encountered difficulties. Snowy plateau, with year-round low temperatures, if conventional transportation methods are used, pipelines are likely to freeze and block midway. The radar station instructor told reporters that they have buried the water supply pipeline deep underground and installed insulation layers on the water supply pipeline to ensure that the water pipe is unobstructed and does not freeze all year round. Nowadays, with the care and support of higher authorities, the construction of living facilities such as washrooms, showers, and toilets at radar stations has been promoted synchronously, and the battlefield readiness and living conditions have been greatly improved. The enthusiasm of officers and soldiers for training and preparing for battle has become even higher. (Lai Xin She)
