Hong Kong Medical Authority signs a five-year cooperation agreement with Peking Union Medical College Hospital

On January 17th, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Hospital Authority (HKSAR Hospital Authority) signed a five-year (2024-2029) cooperation agreement with Peking Union Medical College Hospital to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the development and management of public hospitals. The cooperation covers multiple fields such as hospital management, medical service development, medical care professional development, and medical professional and management talent training. The Chairman of the Hospital Authority, Dr. Fan Hongling, and the CEO, Dr. Gao Baisheng, led a delegation to visit Peking Union Medical College Hospital for two consecutive days and attended the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement and clinical diagnosis and treatment exchanges related to rare diseases. Both sides signed a five-year strategic cooperation letter of intent in 2011 to jointly explore innovative management models for public hospitals. In order to continue friendly cooperation, on January 17th, under the witness of Fan Hongling, Academician Zhao Yupei, Honorary Dean of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Wu Peixin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and Li Wei, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Office of the National Health Commission, a five-year cooperation agreement was signed between Dr. Gao Bangsheng and Zhang Shuyang, Director of Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Fan Hongling said: The Medical Management Bureau signed a letter of intent for cooperation with Beijing Union Medical College Hospital for the first time in 2011, and the two sides had exchanges in different fields. During its visit to Beijing Union Medical College Hospital in September last year, the Medical Management Bureau exchanged views with Beijing Union Medical College Hospital on many issues related to the management and development of public hospitals of common concern, which led to the signing of a five-year cooperation agreement between the two sides again, laying a more solid foundation for further cooperation in the future. Fan Hongling continued, pointing out that there are many aspects of public medical services in Hong Kong and Beijing that can be learned from each other.
