Dai Bing said that since last year, West African and Sahel countries have made significant efforts to maintain regional peace and stability. Meanwhile, the regional situation still faces many difficulties and challenges. The political situation in some countries continues to be turbulent, with prominent domestic social contradictions. The international community should support regional countries to independently choose development paths based on their own national conditions. The external imposition of governance models and the implementation of "democratic transformation" have proven to be unable to solve the root causes of unrest and even trigger new chaos. Dai Bing stated that West African and Sahel countries have long been at the forefront of international counter-terrorism, and extreme terrorist forces are still rampant, causing difficulties in counter-terrorism cooperation in the Sahel region. Faced with common challenges, regional countries should uphold the concept of common security, unite every country in anti-terrorism cooperation, and strengthen every chain on the anti-terrorism front. The international community should summarize past experiences and lessons, support regional countries in enhancing their independent anti-terrorism capabilities through more practical and effective means, and revitalize regional anti-terrorism cooperation as soon as possible. Dai Bing said that since last year, West African and Sahel countries have faced multiple challenges such as slowing economic growth, high inflation, food security crises, and humanitarian crises. The international community should provide financial and technical support for the development of infrastructure, employment and income generation, and improvement of people's livelihoods in regional countries. Dai Bing said that China has been supporting West African and Sahel countries in strengthening capacity building, achieving inclusive and sustainable development, and gradually building the foundation of lasting peace and stability through bilateral and multilateral cooperation under the framework of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation and the Global Development Initiative. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit the region next week for friendly visits to Togo and Cote d'Ivoire. This visit continues the fine tradition of China's foreign minister visiting Africa for the first time every year in 34 years, and will also contribute to promoting regional peace and development.
