The 10th batch went to the scene of the triumphal ceremony of the Malian peacekeeping force. In December 2013, at the request of the United Nations, China sent its first peacekeeping force to Mali. From then on, in this turbulent land of West Africa, our peacekeeping and defense infantry, engineering, and medical teams began to undertake multiple tasks such as vigilance and defense, engineering construction, and medical support. In June 2023, the Security Council decided to end the mission of the United Nations peacekeeping force in Mali and complete its withdrawal by December 31. On December 23rd, I successfully completed my mission and returned home to Mali as a peacekeeping officer and soldier. Mali is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert, with a complex security situation, harsh natural environment, and rampant infectious diseases. It was once referred to as the "most dangerous mission area" by the United Nations. Over the past 10 years, the Chinese military has continuously dispatched 10 batches of peacekeeping troops to Mali, with batches of peacekeeping officers and soldiers dedicated to facing risks and defending peace. In Mali, the more dangerous the mission, the more officers and soldiers can appreciate the value of peace and the greater the sense of responsibility. In October of this year, the 10th batch of peacekeeping troops to Mali were assisting in the construction of engineering facilities at the Gao City Hospital when an explosion suddenly occurred not far away. The defense infantry unit guarding the periphery immediately entered a combat state, relying on favorable terrain to cover construction personnel and quickly boarded the vehicle, and safely returned to the Malian stabilization team's super camp. The defense infantry detachment is responsible for tasks such as surveillance patrols and armed escorts. Being at the forefront of defense in the peacekeeping super camp and surrounding areas, the detachment officers and soldiers comprehensively grasped the surrounding situation, responded to terrorist attacks, prevented armed clashes from spreading, and maximally protected the safety of peacekeeping personnel. In the test of blood and fire, all Chinese peacekeeping officers and soldiers have never retreated. In May 2016, our peacekeeping camp was hit by a car bomb. Shen Liangliang, a sentinel on duty from the fourth batch of peacekeeping engineering teams in Mali, sounded the alarm and commanded shooting in the last 37 seconds of his life, buying valuable time to avoid further casualties. After his sacrifice, he was awarded the national honorary title of "People's Hero". The engineering team has earned respect and praise for its high standard operations. When I first arrived in Mali, the sandy land was barren, with no clean water source and no electricity guarantee. Chinese peacekeeping engineers braved high temperatures to overcome difficulties and built a well-equipped camp in just two weeks. The Bangladesh peacekeeping force, as one of the earliest deployed peacekeeping forces of the Mali Stabilization Mission, has been living in the barracks built by Chinese engineers since arriving in the mission area, and the two sides have been in close contact for a long time. Commander Ahmed exclaimed with emotion, "The excellent completion of tasks by Chinese soldiers stems from strict discipline and excellent quality." During the rainy season in Mali, there were flashes of lightning and thunder, as well as sandstorms. In June 2014, under extreme weather conditions, Chinese peacekeeping engineers quickly built effective defensive fortifications and improved water supply facilities for Niger's peacekeeping friendly military camp area with their superb skills. Over the past 10 years, the Chinese peacekeeping engineering team in Mali has leveled over 900000 square meters of ground, built and repaired thousands of prefabricated houses, and assembled over 40000 sandboxes. Malian stabilization mission officials and multinational peacekeeping forces have highly praised China's speed and standards. Handsome and kind-hearted, the medical team builds a "bridge of life" through actions. In the Mali mission area, the lives and health of peacekeeping personnel face multiple risks
