The self-developed C919 and ARJ21 aircraft arrived in Hong Kong on the 12th, and the Civil Aviation Department and Airport Authority of Hong Kong held a welcome ceremony on the apron of Hong Kong International Airport on the 13th. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, and the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Zheng Yanxiong, attended the ceremony and served as the main guests. Li Jiachao delivered a speech at the welcome ceremony, stating that the visit of C919 and ARJ21 aircraft to Hong Kong fully reflects the country's emphasis on the development of Hong Kong's aviation industry and its role as an international aviation hub. Hong Kong also participated in the certification process for two aircraft this time. When the C919 arrived in Hong Kong from Shanghai, one of the pilots was a flight expert dispatched from the Civil Aviation Administration of Hong Kong to participate in the C919 evaluation work, and was also one of the first batch of C919 pilots. He is deeply proud of Hong Kong's contribution to the national aviation industry. He emphasized that Hong Kong is an international aviation hub located in the heart of Asia, and Hong Kong International Airport leads the world in air freight volume. Both the National 14th Five Year Plan and the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area clearly support the consolidation of Hong Kong's position as an international aviation hub. He also stated that the development, production, delivery, and final commercial use of domestically produced passenger aircraft demonstrate that the country has achieved new breakthroughs in the field of industrial manufacturing. After the welcome ceremony, Li Jiachao and Zheng Yanxiong, as well as Vice Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China Cui Xiaofeng and other guests who attended the event, boarded the C919 and ARJ21 for an in flight tour. In the morning of that day, individuals from the Hong Kong Executive Council, Legislative Council, and youth organizations were present within the fixed area of the airport apron to witness the charm of C919 and ARJ21 aircraft. The C919 is a large passenger aircraft designed, manufactured, and certified by COMAC in strict accordance with international airworthiness standards. It carries 158 to 192 passengers and has a range of 4075 to 5555 kilometers, capable of carrying out medium range route missions. The first commercial C919 aircraft was delivered to China Eastern Airlines in December 2022 and put into service in 2023. The ARJ21 is the first narrow body (single channel) regional aircraft developed by COMAC. The aircraft has a range of 2225 to 3700 kilometers and can carry 78 to 97 passengers.
