In order to effectively strengthen the protection of the Great Wall, the National Cutural Heritage Administration issued a notice on the 8th to further strengthen the protection of the Great Wall, requiring all regions to adhere to the principle of putting protection first, and in line with the attitude of being responsible for history and the people, earnestly improve policies and measures, increase efforts and strictly protect the Great Wall according to law. The notice clearly states that we will further uphold the correct concept of protecting the Great Wall. For sections of the Great Wall where buildings still exist on the ground, the main focus should be on maintaining structural safety, preserving historical information, and protecting the historical environment and style; For the Great Wall ruins that have collapsed or disappeared on the ground in history, the protection of the original state of the site should be the main focus, with proper labeling and explanation. Reconstruction or large-scale restoration on the original site is not allowed. At the same time, it is necessary to scientifically arrange facilities for the protection and utilization of the Great Wall, and not have a negative impact on the cultural landscape with unique aesthetic value formed by the Great Wall and its surrounding environment; Reasonably assess the functional positioning of the facilities for the protection and utilization of the Great Wall, limited to meeting basic functions, strictly control the construction of large-scale tourist trails, duplicate construction of parking lots and tourist centers, blind construction of museums, exhibition halls, and other construction behaviors that lack scientific evidence. The notice also proposes to actively integrate the Great Wall with surrounding cultural relics, culture, and natural resources, promote the revitalization and utilization of Guanbao and ancient villages and buildings along the line, build a number of Great Wall themed tourist paths, promote cross regional exchange and learning in cities and counties where important national Great Wall sections are located, and jointly build cross city and cross provincial Great Wall themed tourist paths.
