On the 7th, the Investment Promotion Agency of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly promote exchanges and cooperation in investment promotion between the two regions. The memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia in attracting investment, encouraging both sides to strengthen economic relations in promoting direct investment through activities such as mutual visits, exchange of professional knowledge, work meetings, seminars, and exchange of information on business and investment environment. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, said that Hong Kong will play a good role as a "super contact person" and "super value-added person" to assist mainland and overseas enterprises in "bringing in and going out". Saudi Arabia is a leading economy in the Gulf region and an important source of foreign direct investment in the world. He believes that with the signing of the memorandum, there will be deeper and broader cooperation between the two sides in promoting investment attraction. In addition to signing a memorandum of understanding, Hong Kong has also begun formal negotiations with Saudi Arabia on promoting and protecting investment agreements, and both sides are willing to complete the negotiations as soon as possible.
