The 2023 World Clothing Conference, hosted by the China Textile Industry Federation and the Dongguan Municipal People's Government, was recently held in Dongguan, Guangdong. Clothing industry professionals from 20 countries and regions, including Italy, France, and the United Kingdom, gathered in Humen to discuss global clothing industry plans. "The integration of Chinese clothing into global development has brought opportunities to the world." Sun Ruizhe, President of the China Textile Industry Federation, pointed out at the meeting that solving the problem of common development requires international cooperation and open sharing more than ever before. He called for the implementation of global development initiatives and finding a starting point in the process of breaking and establishing; To implement global security initiatives and find a balance between competition and cooperation; To implement the Global Civilization Initiative and find resonance between differences and similarities. More than half of the domestically produced clothing is located in Humen Town, Dongguan, Guangdong Province. There are nearly 3000 clothing and apparel production enterprises with over 200000 employees and more than 1000 supporting service institutions. Liu Tianqi, General Manager of Dongguan Munila Clothing Co., Ltd., told reporters that the company mainly produces ethnic clothing and has seized the opportunity of cross-border e-commerce in recent years to open up markets in Southeast Asia. The next step will be to actively embrace digitalization, develop overseas markets, and explore more new opportunities. "The perfect matching of industrial chain and supply chain is the foundation for Humen Clothing to form industrial advantages." said Wu Qingqiu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of Humen Town. Humen has now become a famous textile and clothing industry cluster in China and is renowned both domestically and internationally. In 2019, Humen and the China Textile Industry Federation officially joined hands to jointly build a "world-class clothing industry cluster pilot zone". During the conference, the China Textile Industry Federation announced that the regional brand value of "Humen Clothing" was 178.281 billion yuan. Yang Zhaohua, Vice President of the China Textile Industry Federation, presented a brand value certificate to Humen Town. The development of Humen is a microcosm of China's clothing industry. Nowadays, Chinese clothing has deeply integrated into global development. Sun Ruizhe stated that China produces over 70 billion pieces of clothing annually, accounting for more than half of the world's total. The domestic market size is 4.5 trillion yuan, accounting for 40% of global sales; In 2022, clothing exports reached 182 billion US dollars, accounting for 31.7% of the global market share. Relying on supporting and innovative capabilities, scale and system advantages, Made in China has become a guarantee of global clothing quality and quantity. Since the beginning of this year, facing complex problems such as weak demand, Chinese clothing has still shown development resilience and gradually recovered. From the retail perspective, the recovery trend of clothing consumption is highly certain. From January to October, the retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, and needle textiles for units above designated size reached 1112.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.2%; The online retail sales of clothing products increased by 7.6% year-on-year; The total export value of clothing reached 133.16 billion US dollars.
