The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the United Arab Emirates, the President of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), announced recently that they will further strengthen cooperation, work together to mobilize urgently needed climate funds, accelerate investment in the clean energy sector, and help Asia and other regions address related funding shortages. Based on this partnership, the Asian Investment Bank and the COP28 presidency plan to jointly promote innovative financial products, further leverage private sector and institutional investor funds, including launching a new hybrid financial investment fund to attract more capital into the green investment field. In addition, both sides will continue to jointly advocate for the improvement of the multilateral development financing framework, and further deepen inter institutional cooperation by strengthening business support and knowledge exchange. The establishment of this cooperative relationship is an important step taken by the Asian Investment Bank in promoting the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the goals of the Paris Agreement. "Jin Liqun, the President and Chairman of the Asian Investment Bank, said that this reflects the bank's commitment to deepening partnerships, working together with all parties to promote innovative practices, and leveraging funds and creating value for areas that urgently need support. Sudan Jabir, the incoming chairman of COP28, said that addressing climate funding issues is the core task of the UAE as the COP28 presidency. Through cooperation with the Asian Investment Bank, both parties can jointly find ways to leverage the necessary funds, attract private capital, and support related initiatives to mitigate and adapt to climate change, promoting the construction of a more climate resilient future.
