On October 24th, the 6th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress voted to pass the Patriotic Education Law of the People's Republic of China, which will come into effect from January 1, 2024. This law aims to strengthen patriotic education, inherit and promote the spirit of patriotism, consisting of 5 chapters and 40 articles, including general provisions, responsibilities and tasks, implementation measures, support guarantees, and supplementary provisions. The Patriotic Education Law stipulates the main content of patriotic education, covering ideological and political, historical and cultural, national symbols, magnificent rivers and mountains of the motherland, historical and cultural heritage, constitution and laws, national unity and national unity, national security and national defense, heroic and exemplary deeds, and other aspects. While providing patriotic education for all citizens, we should highlight the education of young people and children in schools and families, and make corresponding provisions for patriotic education for different groups such as public officials, employees of enterprises and institutions, village residents, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and overseas Chinese. The formulation of the Patriotic Education Law and the promotion and protection of patriotic education in the new era through the rule of law is of great and far-reaching significance for inspiring national spirit, rallying people's strength, promoting the construction of a strong country, and promoting national rejuvenation.
