28 martyr named towns and villages, 248 revolutionary sites, and strengthened protection of martyr commemoration facilities in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province - Names of Martyrs Light up the Land of Yanfu. On October 10th, Shen Weimin, a special correspondent of China National Defense Daily in Jiming, told the stories of martyrs to visiting officers, soldiers, and civilians of the Yancheng Military Division in front of the Martyrs' Names Wall in the Wutiaoling Martyrs Cemetery Exhibition Hall. Sun Shulin took a photo of the golden autumn in October. When the reporter walked into Si Lie Village, Huangshagang Town, Sheyang County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, the first thing that caught his eye was a martyr's sign. Above the signboard is a red map of Sheyang County, and below it is a golden text: "Si Lie Village: originally Shazhong Village, Xinsheng Township. In 1947, the Xintan District Committee of the Communist Party of China renamed Si Lie Village to commemorate the four local martyrs Wang Wenjun, Huang Xiufang, Wang Yugan, and Chen Zhengya who died tragically during the Liberation War." In Yancheng City, there are many such towns and villages. (Cheng) Bufeng Town, (Yang) Xuefu Town, (Gu) Zhenghong Town, (Qiu) Dongping Village... The people of Yanfu have written road signs, drawn maps, and engraved their memories of the martyrs in their hearts. In 1946, Yancheng County was renamed Yeting County, which lasted for 3 years, "said Zhou Zhenhua, director of the Cultural and Historical Department of the New Fourth Army Memorial Hall. The exhibition hall of the memorial hall features a special map detailing the locations of 128 towns and villages in Yancheng City named after martyrs. Shining names light up the spiritual highlands of Yanfu. Yancheng is a vast aquatic wetland in eastern China, with a plain stretching throughout the entire area, and most areas have an elevation of less than 5 meters. 82 years ago, the New Fourth Army headquarters was reborn here, continuing to lead the anti Japanese activities behind the enemy lines, and many New Fourth Army soldiers slept here. According to statistics, since the Great Revolution, more than 18000 revolutionary martyrs have sacrificed their precious lives here, leaving behind numerous revolutionary sites and commemorative facilities. In 2018, in order to protect the martyr memorial facilities and continue the red bloodline, Yancheng City organized a comprehensive census. The results show that there are currently 128 towns and villages named after martyrs, as well as 248 revolutionary sites, with varying degrees of attention from different regions, and the current status of protection is not optimistic. Therefore, the Yancheng Municipal Party Committee and Government have held multiple special meetings to study and formulate protection plans. In recent years, Yancheng City has successively issued the "Notice on Doing a Good Job in the Repair and Exhibition of Martyrs' Cemeteries in Towns (Streets) and Villages (Dwellings) Named after Martyrs" and the "Notice on Doing a Good Job in the Repair and Improvement of Revolutionary Sites in the City". The "Regulations on the Protection of Revolutionary Sites and Memorial Facilities in Yancheng City" have been formulated, clarifying protection measures and increasing protection efforts. This work needs to be very meticulous, taking into account the feelings of martyr relatives and respecting local customs and habits, "a staff member of the Municipal Veterans Affairs Bureau told reporters. They ensure that the towns and villages named after martyrs have tombs, monuments, pavilions, and positions, and the surrounding environment is clean and tidy; Conduct a census and positioning of revolutionary sites and commemorative facilities, form a directory, set up eye-catching signs in prominent positions, and provide a brief introduction; Timely arrange special funds for revolutionary sites and commemorative facilities with significant safety hazards
