Journalists Nie Hongjie and Wang Fei from the Chinese Navy's Qi Jiguang Ship Visiting Papua New Guinea reported that on the 26th local time, the Chinese Navy's Qi Jiguang ship arrived at Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, and began a three-day friendly visit to Papua New Guinea. This is also the second stop of the ship's overseas internship visit mission. At around 10 a.m., the Qi Jiguang ship docked at the Port Moresby dock, accompanied by over 300 naval students from the Naval Engineering University, Naval Submarine Academy, and Naval Aviation University. More than 300 people including Chinese Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Zeng Fanhua, embassy staff, Chinese overseas Chinese, Chinese enterprises, and Papua New Guinea's Minister of Defense, Wen Daki, welcomed them at the dock. During the visit, China, Pakistan, and Singapore will carry out a series of activities including visits and exchanges, ship opening, and football friendly matches. The Chinese Embassy in Papua New Guinea will hold a National Day reception event on the flight deck of the Qi Jiguang ship, inviting representatives from all walks of life in Papua New Guinea and diplomats from various countries to participate. It is reported that the Qi Jiguang ship departed from Qingdao, Shandong on September 4th, and after a 22 day voyage and visiting Surabaya Port in Indonesia, it docked at the Port of Moresby in Papua New Guinea as planned. Two PNG Navy students who boarded the ship from Qingdao and participated in internship training also arrived with the ship. The Qi Jiguang ship is the largest and most modernized training ship of the Chinese Navy. The leader of the ship introduced that in October 2019, Qi Jiguang visited Papua New Guinea, and this is his second visit to Papua New Guinea. I hope that through this visit, we can enhance mutual understanding, strengthen practical maritime cooperation, enhance mutual trust, deepen friendship, and contribute actively to serving the construction of a maritime community with a shared future.
