"Blue Engine" Powerfully Launches the Maritime Silk Road to Open up a High level Xintiandi

2023-09-07

A thousand years ago, the ancient Maritime Silk Road experienced exploration and prosperity, with merchants gathering and goods like mountains. Chinese tea, porcelain, and silk went global from here, and the world's spices, pearls, and peppers also entered China from here. A thousand years later, the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" initiatives were put forward. The transportation network of countries along the "the Belt and Road" was becoming increasingly perfect, and various projects were vigorously carried out. The grand scene of "the rising sea makes the voice of all countries" reappeared. Since the "the Belt and Road" initiative was put forward ten years ago, high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" has opened up a road of opportunity for countries along the line to common prosperity. Among them, the Maritime Silk Road is a road where the world economy intersects, and it is also a road for the integration of civilizations among countries. In June 2017, the National Development and Reform Commission and the State Oceanic Administration jointly released the "Vision for Maritime Cooperation in the Construction of the" the Belt and Road ", proposing to focus on the construction of three blue economic channels, namely, the China Indian Ocean Africa Mediterranean blue economic channel, the China Oceania South Pacific blue economic channel and the blue economic channel connecting Europe via the Arctic Ocean. Recently, Song Wei, a professor of the School of International Relations of Beijing Foreign Studies University, said in an interview with people.com.cn that today, the role of the "blue engine" of the Maritime Silk Road is increasingly apparent, and the three blue economic channels have made remarkable progress. The development of the Maritime Silk Road has opened up a Xintiandi of China's high level opening up to the outside world. Song Wei stated that over the past decade, the economic and trade development of the Maritime Silk Road has mainly presented four major characteristics. First, China's trade with countries along the "the Belt and Road" has become more balanced, and major regions along the Maritime Silk Road have achieved steady growth; Secondly, the connection between the industrial chain and the supply chain is more smooth, and the complementarity of import and export products is enhanced; Thirdly, connectivity is more convenient, and transportation trade has significantly increased; The fourth is to deepen cooperation in investment and infrastructure projects, driving exports in related fields. "The Silk Road not only links the economic integration between China and the countries along the the Belt and Road, but also links the people to people, cultural mutual learning, and environmental protection awareness between China and the countries along the the Belt and Road," said Song Wei. In terms of facility connectivity, Song Wei analyzed Fuzhou as an example. In recent years, Fuzhou has inherited and continued the "Maritime Fuzhou" development strategy, making every effort to create a strong "blue engine" and help countries and cities along the Maritime Silk Road prosper together. Jiangyin Port is a rare natural deep-water port in China. At present, nine "the Belt and Road" routes have crossed here, covering most major ports in Southeast Asia; Four Fujian Jiangxi container sea rail intermodal trains, one Rong Man Europe sea rail intermodal cargo channel and one Rong Europe air express line have further expanded the market hinterland of the "the Belt and Road". In terms of smooth trade, the Yangpu Port Terminal in Danzhou, Hainan, as the only port based national logistics hub in China built on a free trade port, has opened 26 new routes in recent years, with a total of 43 domestic and foreign trade routes, including 21 foreign trade routes, covering mainly coastal cities in China and major ports in Southeast Asia, forming a new pattern of routes that "both domestic and foreign trade, and access to near and far oceans". Over the past decade, China has deepened cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road in traditional infrastructure projects, promoted cooperation in new infrastructure projects, and created a number of iconic projects
