The news of replacing the defense minister stirred up Ukraine. Bloomberg, Russia Today (RT) and other media outlets have noticed that on August 31st, the Ukrainian Pravda newspaper quoted anonymous sources as saying that Ukrainian Defense Minister Leznikov may be replaced as early as next week. Bloomberg said that anti-corruption activists and media have previously accused the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense of purchasing food and uniforms at high prices under the leadership of Leznikov, but the latter denies these accusations. Bloomberg said that at the same time, a Ukrainian legislator revealed that Leznikov may be transferred as Ukraine's ambassador to the UK. Ukrainian Defense Minister Aleksi Leznikov will soon be dismissed, and the current head of the Ukrainian State Property Fund, Rustem Umelov, may take over as the defense minister. "Ukrainian Pravda reported on the 31st, citing sources from the Ukrainian Cabinet and the Supreme Rada (parliament). The Ukrainian Pravda newspaper stated that Umelov himself cannot deny or confirm the news that he will be appointed to another position. Bloomberg said that a spokesperson for Leznikov declined to comment on the news from the Ukrainian Pravda newspaper. Zelensky's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment. While the conflict between Russia-Ukraine conflict is still going on, Ukraine has heard that the defense minister is about to be replaced. According to Ukrainian media reports, Ukrainian Defense Minister Leznikov stated on August 19th that he has "no political ambition" and is ready to resign, but this will ultimately be decided by President Zelensky. Russian media believe that this is not surprising, as discussions about the dismissal of Leznikov can be traced back to the beginning of this year, when Zelensky began to "ignite a fire against corruption". The Russian "Guide" said on the 19th that Ukraine relied heavily on Western aid in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Against the backdrop of stagnant counterattacks and heavy losses of personnel and equipment, the Ukrainian leadership hopes to gain more trust from the West through anti-corruption. Leznikov's statement may pave the way for his possible resignation and high-level anti-corruption efforts. Reuters reported that if Leznikov is replaced, he will be the highest ranking official in the Ukrainian government who has recently stepped down due to corruption issues.
