Polish Defense Minister: Increase troops here

2023-08-30

According to a report by the Russian Eurasian Expert Network on August 29th, Polish Defense Minister Mariush Boushchak announced on August 29th that Poland has deployed a new force in the Suwauki Corridor. The Suwauki Corridor is a strip of land approximately 96 kilometers long at the border between Poland and Lithuania, separating Belarus from the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad. According to the Russian Sputnik News Agency, Bouascak said that Poland was increasing its troops to the Suwauki Corridor to ensure "the safety of the Polish people". Buvashchak also said that after analyzing the Ukrainian war, Warsaw has decided to focus on developing artillery. He said, "In March of this year, here in Oletsko, I announced the establishment of a new unit. This unit is now here. The first batch of soldiers have been sworn in for service. The campsite has been built. Eventually, three units of the Mazur First Artillery Brigade will be stationed here." Bouvashchak added that the brigade will have more than 1000 people serving. Bouvashchak revealed that the first unit will be equipped with howitzers, the second unit will be equipped with rocket launchers, and the third unit will be equipped with drones, including unmanned attack aircraft. These teams will receive Polish "Crab" self-propelled howitzers, American "Haima" rockets, and South Korean K9 self-propelled howitzers. It was reported that Poland had previously accused Belarus of violating its air border and was preparing to "provoke", so it decided to increase troops near the Polish White border. The White Party refuted Poland's allegations and provided evidence. In addition, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Poland's decision to increase troops near the Polish White border poses a threat to the countries of the Russian White Alliance, as part of NATO's long-term policy of increasing military deployment on its eastern flank.
