Recently, China's heavy-duty self-propelled cutter suction dredger "Tianjing" passed through the main waterway of the Longmen Bridge in Maowei Sea, Qinzhou, Guangxi, and entered the coastal section of the Pinglu Canal project's waterway section 15, starting on-site construction. Innovative technology has assisted in the efficient construction of the Pinglu Canal waterway section 1 located in Hengzhou City, Nanning, Guangxi. The canal runs longitudinally through the main stream of the Xijiang River and the Beibu Gulf International Hub seaport. The project estimate is about 72.7 billion yuan. The construction contents include waterway engineering, shipping hub engineering, water conservancy facilities renovation engineering, river crossing facilities along the line engineering and supporting projects. After completion, the second sea access channel from the the Pearl River to the Xijiang River will be opened. From the starting point to the estuary, the canal needs to cross mountains and ridges to overcome a water level drop of about 65 meters, making construction difficult and of high standards. Wei Dejian, Chief Engineer of Pinglu Canal Group, introduced that in order to solve many key technical problems encountered during the construction process, the project has hired multiple academician teams and 39 domestic university research institutes to carry out 70 research projects and special topics, providing high-tech support for the construction of the canal. At the construction site of the Ma Dao Hub in Lingshan County, excavators, transport vehicles, and other vehicles shuttle through it, with green vegetation covering the slopes on both sides. Huang Haibo, the project leader from China Communications Second Navigation Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., pointed out the hot construction scene and said that relying on a series of technological breakthroughs and applications, the first phase of the Madao Hub project was completed three months ahead of the expected construction period. The hub has a three-level provincial water tank, and is currently the world's largest inland river provincial water lock. Innovative technology is not only present at the construction site, but also in the exhibition hall of Pinglu Canal Group. The "Digital Twin Canal" system with a large screen catches the eye, and the construction situation of each section is visible in real-time. He Junhui, Minister of Engineering Management Department of Pinglu Canal Group, introduced that the project will integrate the use of new generation information technologies such as 5G, Beidou, big data, and artificial intelligence to establish an integrated "land, water, air, and sky" channel full element operation monitoring network, achieve real-time and detailed perception of channel elements and operation situation, and create a smart canal. The construction of the first phase of the project was completed ahead of schedule in March of this year, and a new phase of full line construction began in May. In August, the main structure construction of the three major hubs of Madao, Qishi, and Qingnian began, and the progress of each project continued to be refreshed. Since the start of construction, more than 9000 builders have been working hard on the construction line of the Pinglu Canal, investing over 2900 sets of large-scale mechanical equipment
