Autonomous driving has reached the eve of commercialization, with Huawei, Tencent and other cross-border "competition"

On August 22nd, in Yizhuang, Beijing, the front and passenger seats of a moving vehicle were empty, while the passengers in the back looked calm. As the first pilot area in China, the commercialization of the "unmanned in car" autonomous driving test zone in Beijing is imminent. Enterprises such as Baidu and Xiaoma Zhixing are urgently debugging, and in the Yizhuang area of Beijing, they will soon be able to summon Robotaxi (autonomous driving travel) intelligent vehicles that are completely unmanned without a safety officer in the driver's seat, and pay to complete the entire travel process. A reporter from Shanghai Securities News recently reported that the new technology of "unmanned" autonomous driving is entering people's real lives from the laboratory. With the encouragement of regulatory authorities and multiple local governments, as well as the increase in user acceptance, giants such as Huawei and Tencent are actively betting on autonomous driving across borders, and are planning a new round of development in the future of intelligent cars in advance. Unmanned makes the safety officer "away" from the steering wheel. Zhang Chao, 28, is the remote safety officer of Xiaoma Zhixing. Previously, Zhang Chao served as the driver's safety officer, co driver's safety officer, and rear seat safety officer for autonomous driving test vehicles. With the acceleration of technological progress and commercial operation, Zhang Chao's role gradually moved away from the car's steering wheel until he sat in front of a computer on a remote assistance platform and continued to be responsible for vehicle safety. To some extent, it's like playing remote control games, "Zhang Chao said. Now, like many peers, he has a regular 9-to-5 lifestyle, but unlike ordinary white-collar workers, he needs to constantly stare at the screen, keep an eye on the road conditions, and respond promptly when the vehicle system requests help. The main thing is to change the route when encountering sudden situations such as road closures, and if it's bad weather, pull over and park. "Zhang Chao and other remote safety officers need to do mainly to re select the route and carry out subsequent work such as vehicle maintenance. As one of the first batch of passengers to test unmanned vehicles, Mr. Tao, a Beijing resident, introduced to reporters that he is already a high-frequency user who "tests" seven or eight times a week, mainly to meet the commuting needs of commuting to and from Yizhuang. Mr. Tao said that compared to online ride hailing and traditional taxis, the unmanned Robotaxi has a better riding experience, with no one else feeling more comfortable in the car. Moreover, the ride process is not complicated, but there are more discounts. Autonomous driving is my dream. Because I don't like driving myself. Especially when there are two children sitting in the back row, I have to take care of them, "said Wu Qiong, a senior expert in Baidu's intelligent driving operation management department. In her opinion, the continuously improving autonomous driving technology can "release" a lot of time for people who do not like or are inconvenient to drive, which is of great significance. Wu Qiong stated that in the future, "unmanned" autonomous driving can allow people to enjoy more convenient travel services while providing more private travel space. In terms of commercialization, Wu Qiong revealed that another highlight of automatic driving is "no single choice". In the traditional travel industry, there will be a "single choice" phenomenon for long orders and short orders. For different orders, Baidu's auto drive system will provide corresponding services without discrimination. For the charging of "unmanned" autonomous vehicles, Baidu currently hopes more potential consumers to experience and try autonomous driving, so the specific cost is definitely not high. The car speed is not enough for experiencing passengers' roast
