On August 17th, Guangzhou Metro invited the media to visit Xiagang Station in the eastern extension section of Line 5 to learn about the latest progress in line construction. The stations on this line mostly adopt a "column less" design, with a simple and lively style, more spacious space, and incorporating many efficient and energy-saving operation and maintenance functions. The eastern extension section of Guangzhou Metro Line 5 is entirely located in Huangpu District, with a total length of approximately 9.8 kilometers. It is all laid underground, with 6 stations (excluding Wenchong Station), 6 sections, 1 entrance and exit line, and 1 parking lot. As an "extension line", the eastern extension section of Line 5 will be combined with the existing Line 5, running through the four districts of Liwan, Yuexiu, Tianhe, and Huangpu in Guangzhou, further optimizing urban transportation routes and reserving conditions for further eastward extension and transfer to Dongguan Metro. In the future, Guangzhou Metro Line 5 can drive Foshan to the west and lead Dongguan to the east. The Xiagang Station of Guangzhou Metro Line 5, which is undergoing mechanical and electrical construction, adopts a "column less" design, making it more spacious. The Xiagang Station, which is undergoing mechanical and electrical construction, is a 12 meter island platform columnless station with a length of 132 meters, a width of 42 meters, and a height of 14.96 meters, which is comparable in size to traditional subway stations. However, due to the use of a "column less" design, the station is more concise and lively, with a more spatial visual sense. Zhou Yongqu, Technical Chief Engineer of the General Contracting Department of the East Extension Section of Guangzhou Metro Line 5 of Beijing Construction Engineering Group, introduced that the station design of the East Extension Section incorporates many efficient and energy-saving operation and maintenance functions. Among them, the Miaotou Road platform door operation and maintenance system is embedded with technologies such as big data analysis and intelligent sensing, achieving online monitoring, analysis and evaluation, and fault warning of key equipment of the platform door, laying the foundation for the gradual transition from "planned repair" and "fault repair" to "state repair" of the equipment. At the same time, LED light sources have been installed at each station, in conjunction with dimming lighting systems, allowing flexible lighting scenarios to fully match the operational needs of the station. Liquid level transmitters are installed at the entrances and exits of each station, as well as in the section wastewater pump room. Rain gauges are installed at the top of the section air shaft to monitor the water level at the entrances and exits of the station and the section, and to improve the automation level of station operation. It is reported that the eastern extension section of Guangzhou Metro Line 5 has entered the stage of mechanical and electrical installation sprint, with a cumulative completion of 99% of civil engineering projects. All six stations on the entire line have been capped and mechanical and electrical construction has been carried out, and the main line has achieved rail and electrical connection. (New News Agency)
