On August 16th, with the completion of the last pile concrete pouring, the Laicuo Elevated Station of the Guangdong East Intercity Railway project, which was constructed by China Railway Urban Construction Group, successfully completed the pile foundation construction. This was the first elevated station on the entire Guangdong East Intercity Railway line to complete the pile foundation construction, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction of the main project. The "One Ring and One Ray" intercity railway in eastern Guangdong is an important component of the intercity railway network planning approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. It connects the three central urban areas of Shantou, Jieyang, and Chaozhou, as well as multiple comprehensive transportation hubs such as Chaoshan Airport, Shantou, Chaoshan, and Jieyang high-speed railway stations. The total length of the project route is about 140.5 kilometers, with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour. Among them, the contracted sections of China Railway Urban Construction are located in Jieyang City and Shantou City, mainly including the station building engineering of 9 elevated stations, including Didu Station, Jinfeng Peninsula Station, Laicuo Station, Liantang Station, Qining Station, Paotai Station, Sangpushan Station, Yuhu Station, Changmei Station, and 1 ground station of Jieyang Station, as well as the housing engineering of Liantang Motor Depot and some ancillary units of the section. Laicuo Elevated Station was the first station building to start construction. According to Yao Jianhao, the chief engineer of China Railway Urban Construction Group, the construction of the pile foundation of Laicuo Elevated Station is affected by unfavorable factors such as communication, power, and water pipeline relocation, as well as complex geological structures within the station, resulting in high requirements and difficulty in project construction operations. China Railway Urban Construction Group has advanced planning and closely collaborated with other participating units to organize special technical meetings. They have carefully arranged and deployed mechanical equipment scheduling, personnel division, quality control, safety measures, civilized construction, environmental protection, and vigorously promoted standardized construction. Multiple measures have been taken to solve the difficulties encountered in construction, ensuring the smooth completion of pile foundation engineering, and creating conditions for the next main project construction. It is reported that Guangdong Province is constructing a comprehensive railway passenger and freight hub with multiple connections, three-dimensional design, and resource integration in the eastern region of Guangdong, vigorously promoting the improvement of railway transportation quality and efficiency in the region. After the completion of the project, the "30 minute commuting circle" of Shantou, Chaozhou, and Jiezhou will be constructed, which is of great significance for promoting regional coordinated development, deep integration of the Shantou, Chaozhou, and Jiezhou metropolitan areas, and promoting better and faster connections between the eastern Guangdong region and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, the West Coast Economic Zone of the Taiwan Strait, and the eastern China region.
