Domestic automotive chips welcome new opportunities and the industry market pattern needs to be reshaped

2023-07-18

At present, the huge blue ocean market brought about by the development of automotive intelligence is attracting multiple parties to enter, and autonomous driving chips are experiencing a wave of venture capital investment. The industry market pattern needs to be reshaped. Following the acceptance of the IPO of car grade chip company Xinwang Micro on the Science and Technology Innovation Board last month, autonomous driving chip company Heizhima Intelligent recently submitted a listing application to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, sprinting towards the first share of domestic autonomous driving chip in Hong Kong. The capital market is increasingly enthusiastic about investing in the chip industry. According to statistics, the global automotive chip market size in 2022 is approximately 310 billion yuan. With continuous development and increasing demand, it is expected that the global automotive chip market will exceed 600 billion yuan by 2030, bringing significant opportunities for participating enterprises. According to Tianyancha data, there are currently over 495000 chip related enterprises in China, of which over 112000 were newly registered in 2022, with a growth rate of 32.7%; In addition, there were over 38000 newly registered enterprises from January to June this year. The industry market pattern needs to be reshaped. Influenced by the trend of automotive intelligence and electrification, the proportion of electronic chips in automotive costs is constantly increasing. According to statistics, the proportion of automotive electronic components in the overall cost of the vehicle has increased from 25% in 2012 to 55% in 2021, and each vehicle even requires over 1000 chips. On July 16th, Wang Ying, Chairman of China Electronics Technology Chip, located in Chongqing Science City, told reporters that today, Electronics Technology Chip has laid out six major industrial sectors: special chips, automotive electronics, and intelligent sensing. At present, the annual production capacity of enterprise chips has reached over 50 million, which has significantly reduced product prices while successfully achieving localized mass production and preparation. "From the field of automatic driving chips, Nvidia, Intel and other foreign brands control the main market. For Chinese enterprises, they need to cross the threshold of chips." Zhang Yongwei, vice chairman and secretary-general of the China Electric Vehicle Association of 100, said that the supply rate of domestic automotive chips is about 10%, 90% of which are imported or controlled by foreign companies. In recent years, with the support of national policies, the prosperity of China's intelligent vehicle industry has been continuously improving. Autonomous driving is the mainstream direction of the automotive industry, and it is expected that by 2025, nearly 30% of cars worldwide will have autonomous driving capabilities. In this context, as the core component of the auto drive system, the autopilot chip has an increasingly strong market demand. At present, the huge blue ocean market brought about by the development of automotive intelligence is attracting multiple parties to enter. China has formed four major camps, including consumer electronics chip giants, innovative chip companies, traditional automotive chip manufacturers, and OEM self-developed/joint venture chip manufacturers. The industry market pattern needs to be reshaped. According to the standard working group data of the China Automotive Chip Industry Innovation Strategy Alliance, the market size of autonomous driving chips has increased by about 36 million pieces based on an annual increase of 18 million vehicles. At present, there are over 100 domestic enterprises engaged in the development and production of automotive chips, and more than 50 chip listed companies claim to have automotive grade products or mass production applications. Li Muhua, an analyst with Guotai Junan Securities, predicted that in the next two years, mainstream automatic driving chips will be delivered in mass production; In the next five years, the competition for market share will become even more intense
