How to "turn waste into treasure" for retired photovoltaic modules? On the 10th, the reporter learned from the Qinghai Provincial Department of Science and Technology that the key research and development plan project "Research on the Recycling and Utilization Technology of Crystal Silicon Photovoltaic Modules" in Qinghai Province has passed expert acceptance. The project aims to explore new industrial avenues for standardized recycling of clean energy solid waste and recyclable and high-value recycling through research on the recycling and reuse of crystalline silicon solar cell module materials. In 2021, China's first high-quality comprehensive solar crystalline silicon photovoltaic module recycling pilot line with independent intellectual property rights was completed, with a comprehensive recovery rate of 92%, providing a technological demonstration model for the comprehensive recycling and utilization of crystalline silicon batteries in China. Qinghai is a major province in clean energy in China and currently has the most concentrated large-scale grid connected photovoltaic power stations in the world. Recycling photovoltaic modules can avoid resource waste. Since 2017, Yellow River Company has taken the lead in conducting research on key technologies such as the industrialization of crystalline silicon photovoltaic module recycling and equipment localization, aiming to classify and disassemble retired photovoltaic modules, recycle reusable materials such as silicon, silver, copper, and aluminum, and turn retired photovoltaic modules into treasures. It is reported that the project is currently being developed by the Qinghai Photovoltaic Industry Innovation Center of the State Power Investment Group. For the recycling technology of retired crystalline silicon solar cell modules, the project has formed an industrial Technology roadmap with "mechanical removal, thermal cutting, selective separation, pyrolysis, and wet purification processes" as the core, and has prepared a complete equipment integration scheme for the recycling industrialization of crystalline silicon solar cell modules, And a 30 megawatt pilot line capable of comprehensively recycling major products such as glass, aluminum frames, junction boxes (cables), silicon, and welding strips will be built in Xining Economic and Technological Development Zone. The completion of this component recycling pilot line has enabled the State Power Investment Group Yellow River Upstream Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. to form a closed-loop vertical integrated photovoltaic industry chain consisting of polycrystalline silicon, silicon wafers, batteries, components, brackets, photovoltaic power station planning, design and construction, operation and maintenance, testing and evaluation, and component recycling. Chong Feng, director of the Industrial Testing and Data Analysis Center of Qinghai Photovoltaic Industry Innovation Center of State Power Investment Group Huanghe Upstream Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., introduced in an exclusive interview with a reporter from Science and Technology Daily that the PV module recycling pilot line realized the efficient recycling and reuse of core materials of PV modules, met the requirements of PV upstream and downstream industries for recycled products, and truly realized the industrial green cycle.
