Can Heavy Efforts in the Ticket Market Stop the Step of "Yellow Bulls"

2023-06-29

With the return of offline concerts, there has been a "music festival fever" in various regions. Many concert tickets are sold out within 5 seconds of opening, indicating the level of popularity. The revival and prosperity of the performance market have also made "scalpers" more active, resulting in services such as using buyer information to act as agents for filming and looting. The order of the ticketing market urgently needs to be standardized. Starting from April, multiple departments in Beijing jointly launched a 5-month special crackdown on illegal ticket scalpers in the performance ticketing market, capturing a total of 143 scalpers. At present, the vast majority of concerts use real name viewing, which requires the purchase of tickets and the identity card information for entering the concert site to be consistent. Face recognition verification is required upon entry, and cannot be transferred or refunded. Even under such strict restrictions, it is still impossible to stop the footsteps of the "scalpers". They ask ticket buyers to provide personal identification information or platform accounts, and then use external software or recruit "hot sellers" to compete for tickets. The "scalper" not only disrupts the order of the performance market, but also poses a risk of personal information leakage for ticket buyers. On the one hand, what consumers buy through "scalpers" may be fake tickets, and due to the unauthorized auction behavior, even if the ticket is successfully purchased, there is still a risk of not being able to enter the market, and consumers cannot claim the resulting losses. On the other hand, some "scalpers" may illegally provide, sell to third parties, or illegally utilize personal information obtained from ticket buyers, which may result in ticket buyers facing harassment calls and spam messages. Some illegal individuals may also use the personal information of the ticket buyer to apply for a credit card from the bank, maliciously overdraw consumption, and even forge relevant documents to engage in illegal and criminal activities. The ticket buyer risks bearing corresponding adverse legal consequences. At present, the recovery of the performance market requires multiple parties to work together to regulate market order, ensure the viewing experience and sustainable development of the performance industry. The government departments should strengthen the supervision of ticket purchasing channels and increase the punishment of "scalpers". At the same time, establish a dedicated reporting channel and set up a reward mechanism to allow consumers to report on "scalper" auction and robbery behavior through hotlines, online platforms, and other channels. After verification and confirmation, a certain amount of reward will be given. Ticketing platforms should strictly review the personal information of ticket buyers. When there is already registered identity information on the platform and users register again, the review and control should be strengthened. At the same time, continuous monitoring can be carried out through Big data and other means. Once an account is found to use external software to grab tickets, the relevant account number will be blocked immediately. Social media and second-hand trading platforms should strictly review and publish content, such as strengthening the review efforts through word blocking, keyword review, and other methods. Messages or products that introduce content such as "proxy auction" and "proxy robbery" should not be displayed, and relevant accounts that bypass platform supervision and publication should be punished, and sales channels should be blocked. For individuals, it is important to establish awareness of information protection and self-protection. For scenarios where personal information needs to be provided, caution should be taken. Consumers with ticket purchasing needs must purchase tickets on the ticketing platform authorized by the organizer, and do not entrust their personal information to others for auction or ticket grabbing.
