China is one of the fastest growing markets in the international licensing industry, with huge potential and space, and promising prospects. Many international brands are optimistic about China's opportunities. "Huang Yufen, Managing Director of the Shanghai Representative Office of the International Licensing Industry Association, expressed the industry's expectations for China's opportunities at the 2023 Las Vegas International Brand Licensing Expo, which ended on the 15th. As the most professional and largest annual brand licensing exhibition in North America, this three-day exhibition covers various fields such as fashion, film and television entertainment, sports, games, toys, art and design, attracting about 5000 brands to participate. Thousands of industry insiders such as IP copyright owners, authorized agents, brand owners, retailers, and producers attended. The international licensing industry has developed rapidly in recent years, with more and more enterprises expanding their brand influence and product sales through IP development and protection. According to data released by the International Licensing Industry Association, the total global sales of authorized goods and services in 2022 were $340.8 billion, an increase of 8% compared to 2021. Huang Yufen said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that the size of China's licensing market has now climbed to the second largest in Asia and the fifth largest in the world. Overseas IP parties have a great interest in entering the Chinese market, and many IP parties seek to establish connections and strengthen cooperation with Chinese enterprises or authorized agents through the Las Vegas International Brand Authorization Expo. American casual clothing brand Huanteng is familiar to many Chinese consumers. Victoria Zhang, the brand manager of Huanteng, told reporters that China is an extremely important overseas market for Huanteng. Huanteng has hundreds of retail stores and authorized partners in China and looks forward to further strengthening its ties with China. Some exhibitors stated in an interview with reporters that the "China opportunity" of the authorized industry not only includes international brands entering the Chinese market, but also includes achieving a win-win situation through cooperation in the process of Chinese brands "going overseas". The participating Chinese comprehensive video website Bilibili brings multiple original image IPs that are loved by young people, over a hundred high-quality animations and documentaries, as well as authorized products in cooperation with the Forbidden City, Dunhuang, and other cities, attracting the attention of many visitors. Xie Zhengying, Copyright Director of Bilibili, stated that this is Bilibili's first time participating in the Las Vegas International Brand Licensing Expo. We hope to further familiarize ourselves with the international licensing industry, promote the export of Chinese original IPs, and seek opportunities to expand overseas cooperation while showcasing the charm of Chinese culture. Claire Dodding, the head of a film and television company from Los Angeles, carefully watched and inquired about Bilibili's exhibition content in the exhibition area. She stated that the Chinese original animations produced by Bilibili are "very cool" and she is very interested in promoting these IPs to the US and European markets through cooperation with Bilibili. She also hopes to use Bilibili as a platform to introduce her original IP works to Chinese audiences. (New News Agency)
