On June 14, World Blood Donor Day, the National Health Commission, the Red Cross Society of China, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Health Bureau of the Logistics Support Department of the Central Military Commission jointly held the 20th World Blood Donor Day publicity activity in Yan'an, Shaanxi. 14 units and 128 individuals in the military were commended, which is a microcosm of the military's contribution to the healthy development of China's unpaid blood donation cause. Over the years, the officers and soldiers of the whole army have adhered to the fundamental purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly, and actively engaged in the cause of unpaid blood donation. A large number of advanced models have emerged, demonstrating the noble character of the people's children and soldiers in caring for the masses and contributing to society. Every time there is a disaster or danger, the people's soldiers will selflessly donate their blood, bringing hope for the lives of the wounded and the dawn of recovery for the sick. Since the 13th Five Year Plan, military blood collection and supply institutions have organized an average of 285000 unpaid blood donations annually, providing 615000 units of whole blood and component blood for clinical treatment annually. During the three-year anti epidemic period, the vast number of officers and soldiers, as well as military blood workers, carried out over 2480 emergency blood donations and organized 744000 personnel to donate blood and collect 1488000 units of blood in the military and civilian areas, effectively alleviating the shortage of blood in many areas. At the same time, significant progress has been made in the management of blood in the military, gradually establishing and improving three major systems: blood organization management, policies and regulations, and quality supervision and monitoring. The basic transformation of officers and soldiers' blood donation from planned indicators to active voluntary, supply support from initial ability to effective support, and clinical blood use from simple blood transfusion to advanced treatment has been achieved. At present, military blood stations are fully engaged in whole blood collection, ingredient preparation, ingredient single collection, and autologous blood transfusion services, steadily improving blood collection and supply capabilities, and contributing to the healthy development of China's unpaid blood donation cause. Next, the military health system will continue to strengthen the construction of blood collection and supply institutions, improve supporting equipment, strengthen talent cultivation, improve the ability to serve blood donors, strengthen blood management supervision, strictly implement the responsibility system for blood safety management, comprehensively ensure the safety of blood collection, testing, storage and transportation, and use, and continuously promote the sustainable and healthy development of unpaid blood donation.
