Behind the 'research and learning craze': How can the research and learning market develop in a standardized manner?

2023-05-29

The current research and learning activities are highly sought after, with more diverse research themes and broader research scope, including red research, technology research, and rural research. However, with the increasing expansion of the research and learning market, there have also been some problems such as uneven quality, inflated prices, and insufficient supply. Some places have started to standardize by establishing open selection mechanisms. The recovery of "research and learning fever" in various regions has been evident since 11 departments including the Ministry of Education issued the "Opinions on Promoting Research and Learning Travel for Primary and Secondary School Students" in 2016, and research and learning travel has been included in the national primary and secondary education teaching plan. Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and other regions have built a number of research and learning bases according to local conditions, and formulated specific implementation suggestions for research and learning. Under the background of "double reduction", parents pay more attention to their children's physical and mental health and comprehensive development. Studying allows children to step out of the classroom, explore nature, interact with society, and achieve a "unity of knowledge and action" through practical experience. This form of education has been widely recognized by education departments, schools, and families. On the morning of May 24th, more than 300 students from the Third Primary School of Wanli Management Bureau in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, entered Meiling Yanxue Town to carry out a "red, ancient, and green" three color cultural research activity. This year, this place has received 80000 local research teams, and it is expected to receive 200000 primary and secondary school research teams from all over the country throughout the year. In Guangdong, popular science research, such as visiting the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge, local folklore research, such as experiencing farming, and historical and cultural research, such as understanding the Maritime Silk Road, have always been popular choices. Feng Zhiwei, General Manager of Daoxi Cultural Tourism Development (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., said that they are combining rural revitalization in Mipu Village, Liangkou Town, Conghua District, Guangzhou to create a rural folk culture experience and intangible cultural heritage inheritance research project. It is only a small village and has received nearly 10000 primary and secondary school students this year. Zhang Meng, Executive Vice President of the Guangdong Research and Learning Travel Association, said that after the 2023 Spring Festival, the research and learning market in Guangdong Province has rapidly recovered. Primary and secondary schools in the province have been scheduling classes to participate in research and learning travel practice activities since March. Some service institutions have received 80000 people in just one month in March, and some bases even receive over 3000 people per day. According to sources from cultural and tourism institutions in Zhejiang, over 40% of the parent-child tours in the province during the May Day holiday this year are related to Zhou Bian's research projects, involving multiple themes such as the Red Journey, Song Yun Culture, rural revitalization, and mountain sea cooperation. Among them, projects related to getting close to nature and exploring cultural and museum secrets are particularly popular. The market needs to be further regulated, and the research market has grown rapidly in recent years. According to relevant regulations, schools usually arrange research tours for grades four to six in primary school, grades one to two in junior high school, and grades one to two in high school. Industry insiders estimate that the overall scale of the research travel market exceeds 100 billion yuan. However, with the recovery of the research and learning market, problems such as multi-party competition, inflated prices, and incorrect prices have also been exposed from time to time. The reporter found in an interview that there are thousands of institutions operating research and learning business in Zhejiang Province, many of which are various training institutions, clubs, and educational service consulting enterprises. They may not necessarily have the cultural and tourism qualifications to commission research and learning, and the quality of research and learning projects is indeed mixed
