Promoting the Classics of the Era of Ethnic Music Creation

2023-05-17

Recently, with the performance of the symphonic music "Shajiabang", the Century Review of Chinese Symphony and the 8th China Symphony Music Season have opened. Shajiabang was performed by the conductor Li Xincao, the China National Symphony Orchestra and the choir, together with Zhang Xiaoqing, Jiang Meiyi and Zhang Lan from the National Peking Opera Theater. This is also a concert of China National Symphony Orchestra in 2023 music season. In the 2023 music season of the China National Symphony Orchestra, in addition to the Yellow River Cantata and Ode to Mountains and Rivers, the composer Tan Dun's Dunhuang Three Gods - Suona Concerto was premiered by the State Council. In addition, the symphony "Peace in Peace", created jointly by multiple young composers from the National Diplomatic Association and imbued with a sense of historical significance and the charm of the new era, also made its first appearance to the audience in the new music season. Li Xincao said that 'Peace in Peace' is a series of creations currently being prepared by the National Communications Corporation, presented in various forms such as symphony, chamber music, and instrumental vocal combinations. "The art of symphony originated in Europe. It is the most complex of all musical forms, involving many kinds of musical instruments, and producing the most abundant sound colors. It has an impact on the audience from the auditory level and then through the psychological level, expressing emotions, and cleaning the soul." Zhou Yu, secretary of the Party Committee of the China National Symphony Orchestra, said that symphony burst out new vitality and vigor after combining with the excellent traditional Chinese culture. For a hundred years, Chinese musicians have explored and borrowed local music materials, created with modern composition techniques, performed in symphonic bands, and combined Chinese and Western music to create and perform a large number of Chinese music works, many of which have become national classics. At present, there are over 70 domestic symphony orchestras. More and more Chinese bands, conductors, performers, and singers are shining brightly in the internationally renowned music halls. A group of Chinese composers and works have gradually been accepted by the international classical music industry and audiences, such as Chinese symphony works such as "Butterfly Lovers" and "Ode to the Red Flag", which have been continuously performed by foreign orchestras, expanding the influence of Chinese culture. As the first national orchestra after the founding of New China, the China National Symphony Orchestra has gone through nearly 70 years. While performing western classical music works, the China National Symphony Orchestra pays attention to the creation and promotion of national music, adheres to the road of symphony nationalization, and has created and performed a large number of excellent Chinese works. Li Xincao said that in the new music season, CCCC will make every effort to continue creating the "Proud Children of the Country" series of concerts, with richer content and more diverse presentation methods. Zhou Yu introduced that in recent years, China Communications has spared no effort in promoting Chinese composers, launching Chinese works, telling Chinese stories well, and reflecting the style of the times through various forms of commissioned and collective creation.
