From then on, Fan Jinshi regarded the protection, research, promotion, and management of Dunhuang cultural heritage as his lifelong career. Fan Jinshi's life has always been simple. When working, she would donate 10000 yuan from her salary every year to the Dunhuang Grottoes Protection and Research Foundation in China for nearly thirty years. In 2014, Fan Jinshi retired and donated 450000 yuan from her provident fund account in one lump sum. For many years, Fan Jinshi has always done his best to promote and encourage the academic research of future generations. The reporter learned from Peking University that in 2019, the Dunhuang Research Institute and Peking University jointly established the Dunhuang Studies Research Center to jointly train high-level Dunhuang Studies researchers, and Fan Jinshi became the honorary director of the Dunhuang Studies Research Center. In 2020, she sent a message to the freshmen of the School of Archaeology, Culture and Museum at Peking University, striving to become archaeologists who integrate knowledge and action, have a deep and prepared mindset, and integrate personal pursuits into the sacred cause of archaeology.
