With the approval of President Xi Jinping and the Central Military Commission, two Chinese navy warships were evacuated from Sudan in an emergency. Our reporter Cheng Anqi reported that with the approval of President Xi Jinping and the Central Military Commission, on April 26 local time, the Chinese navy missile destroyer Nanning Ship and the comprehensive supply ship Weishan Lake Ship sailed to Sudan in an emergency to evacuate our personnel in Sudan. At around 10:00 local time on the 27th (around 15:00 Beijing time on the 27th), the first batch of 678 evacuees safely arrived at Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia with naval vessels. This emergency evacuation mission from Sudan is the third time that the Chinese Navy has dispatched warships to carry out overseas evacuation missions, following the 2011 Libya evacuation operation and the 2015 Yemen evacuation operation. The troops responsible for this evacuation mission are composed of the missile destroyer Nanning and the comprehensive supply ship Weishan Lake, which are currently carrying out the 43rd batch of escort missions. They carry one carrier based helicopter and more than 490 mission officers and soldiers, including dozens of special operations personnel. Among the first batch of 678 evacuees, 668 were Chinese citizens and 10 were foreign nationals. The reporter learned from the relevant departments of the navy that the navy warship carrying out emergency evacuation mission arrived early on the morning of the 26th and docked at Port Sudan. A safety alert area was quickly established at the dock, and special operations personnel were armed to take on the alert. Under the guidance of military officials, staff, and naval officers and soldiers from the Chinese Embassy in Sudan, personnel preparing to evacuate registered and checked at the dock before boarding the ship. The evacuation process was safe and orderly. Subsequently, two warships departed from Port Sudan and docked at Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia at around 10:00 local time on the 27th (around 15:00 Beijing time on the 27th). After completing personnel transfer, they quickly rushed to Port Sudan again to carry out subsequent transportation tasks. Task officers and soldiers assist evacuees in boarding the ship.
