From being barren to becoming a "Saihan Dam" on the sea, Yongxing Island has added a new green hue this year

The sun shines on the sea as usual, and the waves run tirelessly with their shimmering waves. Flocks of gulls soar against the sea breeze. This is Yongxing Island in spring. In the evening, Staff Sergeant Wang Xiuwang appeared again by the coconut grove. He dialed the video call and his wife's smile appeared on the screen of his phone. When they first got married, the area of this coconut forest was not as large. Time flies, and the island adds new greenery every year. That was 2007, when Wang Xiuwang, who was still a new recruit, first set foot on Yongxing Island, and before him was a wilderness. That same year, he planted a 'rooted tree'. At that time, the training task was heavy, and the comrades would carry a bucket of water every morning after breakfast and hike to the tree planting area to water the coconut seedlings. Throughout the year, Wang Xiuwang travels back and forth every day. Sometimes during typhoon weather, he and his comrades cannot leave the house. As long as the weather improves slightly, everyone will definitely make more trips. Planting trees and building islands are the memories of generations of officers and soldiers guarding the islands. A sapling bears witness to a kind of perseverance and is also the spiritual bond between officers and soldiers and the island. Nowadays, the island is lush and fragrant with birds singing and flowers, and the coconut grove has become the island's "walking and check-in spot". The Xisha Islands is the largest archipelago in the South China Sea. On Yongxing Island, most of the land is barren white sand beach and stone rock. The harsh environment has withered the petals and broken the branches of plants attempting to "go to the island", but the dream of the island guards planting greenery remains hot. Easier said than done. Yongxing Island is hundreds of kilometers away from the mainland of China, with inconvenient transportation and transportation difficulties. Planting trees and afforestation is not an easy task. Every spring, Xisha officers and soldiers will actively participate in the activity of "planting trees, greening islands and reefs", pick up shovel and hoes, and plant coconut seedlings on the bare sand. With the efforts of generations of officers and soldiers, the "green clothes" of Yongxing Island have become increasingly dense, with tens of thousands of coconut seedlings settling down on the island every year. With the active implementation of soil remediation by the local government and the improvement of water and electricity conditions, in recent years, more green tree varieties have been successfully planted on the island. Trees such as golden banyan and triangular plum have increased the vegetation coverage of the island, making Yongxing Island seem like a "Saihan Dam" on the sea. Yao Yao, come to Dad's place and water the tree next to Dad. "Yao Yao, who has just turned 3 years old, is the daughter of Li Weipeng, the duty class leader of a certain department, and Li Hui, a nurse at Sansha People's Hospital. This time, it was Yao Yao's first visit to the island. Li Huite took her daughter to the island, "Come and see the island protected by her father, and also take a look at the coconut tree that symbolizes the love between her parents. I remember that spring 8 years ago, the sky was the same on the island, and clouds drifted by unintentionally. On the beach, amidst the little green, Li Weipeng was planting a "rooted tree" and caught the attention of Li Hui, who was walking along the beach. Later, Li Weipeng met Li Hui through a friend's introduction, and they fell in love and stayed together from then on. For the first time walking hand in hand, Li Weipeng brought Li Hui to the coconut tree he had planted. Li Hui then told her lover, "When you planted a tree here, I happened to pass by you..." They always believed that it was this coconut tree that brought them a rare fate. Time is silent, silence becomes a flower. A few years later, the couple made a vow under the coconut tree, and soon their daughter was born. They settled their home in a city outside the island
