In his speech, He Yicheng expressed the hope that the forum could fully utilize the unique advantages of Macao and the opportunities for the construction of the Hengqin Guangdong Macao Deep Cooperation Zone, combined with Macao's moderately diversified development strategy, to enable Macao enterprises to play a greater role in promoting economic and trade cooperation between the mainland and Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as personnel exchanges between Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries. The SAR government will continue to fully support the work of the Permanent Secretariat of the China Portugal Forum, further expand the functions of the China Portugal platform, and assist China and Portuguese speaking countries in deepening economic, trade, and cultural cooperation. In his speech, Ji Xianzheng stated that the Permanent Secretariat will closely focus on the action plan formulated at the ministerial meeting, continue to support the establishment of a service platform for Macao's Sino Portuguese trade cooperation, and make new contributions to promoting mutual understanding and affinity between China and the people of various Portuguese speaking countries. On behalf of the Portuguese speaking countries, Gustava reiterated that all countries are willing to work with China to build the Sino Portuguese Forum better, continuously expand its influence and vitality, and strive to achieve more positive results. Nearly 300 people attended the reception, including representatives from all walks of life, business associations, universities and colleges, and associations of Portuguese speaking countries. The first meeting of the Organizing Committee of the China Portuguese speaking Countries Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum (Macao) was held in Beijing on March 28, 2003.
