2023-03-22

The Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway will open direct inter provincial trains to cities such as Beijing, Changsha, Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Wuhan from April 1, and five new stations will be added. Tickets for the new trains will be sold on March 23. The Hong Kong Railway Company Limited (MTR) stated that the new stations include Changping, Huizhou North, Heyuan East, Ganzhou West, and Shengfang, and the network coverage has been expanded to 66 stations nationwide. At that time, the daily train frequency will increase from 102 to 164, roughly returning to the pre epidemic level. The Hong Kong Railway Corporation said that according to the latest arrangements in the mainland, there will be route and station changes for high-speed rail trains. Trains from Hong Kong's West Kowloon Station to Shanghai's Hongqiao will adopt a new route, passing through Huizhou North, Heyuan East, and Ganzhou West Stations. The travel time will be reduced to about 8 hours. In addition, there are four daily trains between Hong Kong's West Kowloon Station and Guangzhou East Station. Instead of stopping at Dongguan Station, they will stop at the newly added Changping Station. The flight from Tianjin West Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station will stop at Shengfang Station. Huizhou South Station and Huidong South Station will adopt new names from April 10th, namely Huiyang Station and Huidong South Station. Yang Meizhen, Director of Hong Kong Passenger Transport Services at Hong Kong Railway Corporation, said that the high-speed rail link has brought convenience to cross-border passengers. Passengers on leisure, family visits, and business trips will enjoy more convenient, fast, comfortable, and reliable railway services, allowing them to easily travel across the country.
