The excavation area is located in the southeast of the site, with an excavation area of 500 square meters. The excavation confirmed that the thickness of the site stratum was up to 24 meters, and more than 12000 pieces of earth-rock products were produced, including material preparation, stone core, stone chips, repair tools, fault blocks and debris. According to research and analysis, there were ancient human cultural relics at the Yeyuan site no later than 1.1 million years ago. At that time, the stone tool processing technology of human beings belonged to the simple stone core and chip technology system, and the tools were mainly simple repair scrapers, chopping tools, etc. About 780000 to 250000 years ago, although it is still a simple stone core and chip technology system, the ancient human stone technology has continued to improve, and a new hand pick with one-sided repair and regular shape has emerged in the tools. From about 250000 years ago, human activities entered a prosperous period and lasted to about 100000 years ago. During this period, ancient humans left a very rich cultural relics.
