2023-02-22

The Hong Kong Palace Museum of Culture unveiled the first special exhibition of "Golden Splendor - Ancient Gold Wares in the Palace Museum of Hong Kong and the Dream Butterfly Pavilion", which is mainly based on the collection of the museum on the 21st. The exhibition will be open to the public on the 22nd, displaying 220 sets of ancient Chinese gold wares. The exhibition is divided into three parts, namely "New Wind: Grassland and Early China", "Mutual Learning: Tubo and Tang", and "Harmony: Liao, Song and Ming". The treasures on display include the gold crown used by the Hun nobles, the banner decoration with the Central Plains decoration used by the Tubo nobles, and the inlaid crown decoration worn by the princess of the Tang Dynasty, which is based on the western and eastern Asian ornaments in technology. Most of the exhibits in this exhibition were donated by Lu Yinyin and Zhu Weiji, the owners of the Hong Kong Dream Butterfly Pavilion, to the Hong Kong Palace Museum of Culture. The earliest exhibits can be traced back to the 18th century BC. Liu Zhen, acting director of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Bureau of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that he believed that the exhibition would attract audiences at home and abroad, promote Hong Kong's cultural tourism, and further help Hong Kong develop into a city of cultural and artistic events. Tan Yunzhi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Palace Museum of Culture, said that the exhibition showed the unique trade and cultural exchange and evolution of ancient China, and deepened the audience's understanding of the concept of the Chinese nation as one and diverse. The breadth and depth of these objects are rare among similar collections, providing valuable materials for the study and display of the evolution of Chinese culture and art. The exhibition will last until September 25. (Outlook New Era)
