"The desert smokes straight, and the river sets yen." This piece of Gobi desert was once a battleground for ancient people to gallop and fight. In 1958, a missile range rose here. A group of scientific and technological workers who have the faith of serving the country and are committed to strengthening the military through science and technology have come here from all sides of the country. Regardless of their personal gains and losses, they buried themselves in scientific research and experiment and devoted their life to the cause of national defense science and technology. The sky of history is also the sky of spirit. In the 65 years of development, a base of the Air Force has condensed the "spirit of the desert arrow" with the main connotation of "loyalty to the country, independent innovation, scientific and pragmatic, and hard work". On February 2, 2013, President Xi visited part of the equipment of the base in the face of severe cold, cordially received the representatives of the officers and technicians of the base, and asked everyone to recognize their responsibilities and missions, make persistent efforts, forge ahead, and resolutely complete the tasks centered on test and training. The commander earnestly urged the officers and soldiers to bear in mind that, with the call of reform and strengthening the military, the base opened the road of "three-dimensional integration" transformation and leapfrog development of war trial training. In the past decade, under the guidance of the "spirit of the desert arrow", the officers and soldiers of the base have marched forward bravely on the road of building a strong army with a high attitude. Before the interview at the base, there was a place we decided to "go" at the beginning - the cemetery of the revolutionary martyrs of Dongfeng. There are more than 600 revolutionary martyrs who have worked hard in the construction of the base. In the middle of the cemetery, Marshal Nie Rongzhen's tombstone stands tall, and the tombstones in the back are arranged in order, like a loyal iron army stationed in the desert all year round. Each of them dedicated their precious youth and life to the cause of national defense science and technology, which is a true portrayal of the 'spirit of the arrow in the desert'. Guan Kai's experience reflects a truth: for a military, the history that can best educate and influence people is its own history. In recent years, the base has led the officers and soldiers to start the "root-seeking" journey again and again through the regular organization of visits to the history exhibition hall, the education base, the martyrs cemetery and other activities. In 1958, under the order of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the 100000 troops of the 20th Regiment went to the vast Gobi to build China's first comprehensive missile test range. The Gobi is a piece of yellow sand. "Where is the shooting range?" the officer asked. General Chen Shiju's answer was resounding: Our feet are the shooting range, and we need to build it with our hands! So the officers and soldiers began to build day and night. For more than two years, they planted poplar trees here, built "cellars", dug out "sweet water cellars", and built the largest military airport in Asia... Behind this, countless ancestors' sacrifice and dedication are condensed. Some of them encountered a sandstorm while surveying the construction route and died unfortunately; Some died young after overwork; Some martyrs didn't even leave their names... mountains and rivers are the evidence, and years are the guide.
