Mobile Internet of Things "Fast Forward" to consolidate the foundation of Internet of Things

2023-02-09

Close to life, such as shared bicycles, hard core, such as 5G+industrial Internet, and generally smart meters... In China, the mobile Internet of Things is accelerating to enable thousands of industries. According to the 2022 Communication Industry Statistics Bulletin, by the end of 2022, the three basic telecommunications enterprises have developed 1.845 billion users of the cellular Internet of Things, with a net increase of 447 million users throughout the year. The reporter of the Economic Information Daily recently interviewed China Mobile, China Unicom and other relevant enterprises in Shanghai to understand the progress of "things" connection. "Internet of Things" has surpassed "Internet of People". According to the Statistical Bulletin of Communication Industry in 2022, by the end of 2022, the total number of terminal connections in China's mobile network has reached 3.528 billion, including the number of cellular Internet of Things terminal users representing "things" and the number of mobile phone users representing "people". Since the number of "things" connections exceeded the number of "people" connections at the end of August 2022, the foundation of the Internet of Things has been constantly consolidated, and the proportion has risen to 52.3%. "In terms of industrial development, Qianhang Baiye has provided a wide range of application scenarios for the development of the Internet of Things. In the trend of industrial digitalization in China, various industries have combined with the Internet of Things to form rich application practices and promote the rapid growth of the Internet of Things." The relevant head of Shanghai Unicom analyzed that the application scenarios provided by Qianhang Baiye are one of the reasons for the rapid growth of the number of "Internet of Things" connections. In the Intelligent Connected Vehicle Demonstration Zone in Jiading, Shanghai, a passenger car can realize real-time data interaction between the road, vehicle and cloud, and the steering wheel can operate automatically to drive steadily on the road, relying on the 5G network of Shanghai Mobile. According to the relevant person in charge of Shanghai Mobile, driven by the development demand of the intelligent connected car industry, and led by the upgrading of 4G to 5G network capabilities, the company has realized the upgrading of the service type from "car connected card" to "platform, application and operation", and provided intelligent connected information services for more than 20 head car enterprise customers. The increment of "small traffic" scenarios close to life is also considerable. According to data from Shanghai Unicom, by January 2023, the number of Internet of Things components business between China Unicom and Harrow has exceeded 1.5 million. At the same time, Shanghai Unicom, focusing on small and medium-sized traffic scenarios such as financial payment and sharing economy, has seen a net increase of more than 20 million 4G Cat. 1 connection terminal applications in the first half of 2022, becoming the largest driver of scale growth. According to the interviewees, the mobile Internet of Things is also widely used in public services, industry, medical care, finance and other fields. For example, the State Grid Power Shanghai Company uses the mobile Internet of Things technology to enable smart power supply and distribution, Baowu Group explores 5G+smart manufacturing in the steel industry, and Ruijin Hospital builds a 5G medical special network to support smart medical applications such as remote emergency consultation. The analysis of the respondents of Shanghai Unicom on the solid base of the mobile Internet of Things shows that behind the rapid growth of the number of "things" connections is the solid support of the mobile Internet of Things base. In 2022, the coverage and depth of mobile communication base stations will continue to increase, and a pattern of coordinated development of narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), 4G and 5G multi-networks will be initially formed, which can provide connectivity at different rate levels to meet the requirements of Internet of Things business and application scenarios in various industries.
