A man in Taining County, Fujian Province lied that women talked and communicated with men on WeChat by adding WeChat, and then fabricated various reasons to cheat money. Recently, the People's Court of Taining County, Fujian Province concluded such a fraud case. The defendant, Lin, was sentenced to one year of imprisonment, one year and six months of probation, and a fine of 10000 yuan. From March 2020 to February 2021, the defendant Lin added the victim Li's WeChat and lied that she was a female, working in Taining, named "Lin", and chatted with Li on WeChat under the fictitious identity mentioned above. At the same time, in order to convince Li of his female identity, Lin also asked his girlfriend to use female voice to communicate with Li on WeChat. Later, Lin cheated Li of 32800 yuan by fabricating the reasons that his daughter needed cash deposit to go through the procedures for obtaining insurance, needed capital to invest in the lantern factory, and lacked money to buy things. On July 27, 2021, the defendant Lin was captured by the public security police. After being arrested, Lin returned 32800 yuan of stolen money to Li and obtained Li's understanding. The court held that the defendant, Lin, defrauded others of property of 32800 yuan by means of fabricating facts and concealing the truth for the purpose of illegal possession. The amount was relatively large, and his behavior constituted a crime of fraud. After the case is brought to justice, Lin can truthfully state the facts of the crime, plead guilty and accept punishment, and compensate the victim for all losses to obtain understanding, so he can be given a lighter punishment at his discretion.
