2022-11-01

Ride the wind and waves, and hang the cloud sail! On October 31, the last round of the competitive sports group sailing competition of the 16th Guangdong Games ended at the Jinshawan Water Sports Center in Chikan, Zhanjiang. Teams from 13 cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhanjiang participated in the competition. Against the backdrop of the blue sea and sky, the athletes braved the wind and waves and willfully expressed their youth. Kite board "flying" Jinshawan held kite board, sailboat ILCA4 and sailboat OP competitions on October 31. Jinshawan is a major tourist attraction in Zhanjiang, which often attracts a large number of tourists. The starting point of kite board is the beach where the tourist center is located. Kite boarding is undoubtedly the youngest and most enjoyable event among them. The athletes ride colorful "kites" to face the waves, which makes them feel like riding the waves. Chen Rihang of Qingyuan Team has been engaged in this sport for more than two years. When he talked about kite board, he became quite excited: "Kites take you sailing on the sea. If your ability is slightly poor, you will be taken away by the wind. This sport is very exciting, comparable to extreme sports." Kite boarding has just been listed as a competitive event in the Hangzhou Asian Games and the Paris Olympic Games. On the day of the game, many Zhanjiang citizens were attracted to watch the game near the dock. As the southernmost city in Chinese Mainland, Zhanjiang has high-quality marine resources. Zhanjiang Bay passes through the city. The coastline of the bay area is 35 kilometers long, providing good coastline resources for sailing and windsurfing. The National Sailing Championships in 2020 and 2021 will be held in Jinshawan. Although the weather of typhoon "Nig" is sunny, according to the weather forecast on October 31, typhoon "Nig" is gradually approaching the coast of Guangdong, bringing strong winds to the sea surface of Zhanjiang. More than 390 athletes participated in this competition. On October 31, the maximum number of athletes on the sea could reach more than 100. How to ensure the safe completion of the competition has become an important issue. The Organizing Committee shall coordinate in advance with relevant departments such as the Maritime Safety Administration, the South China Sea Rescue Bureau Zhanjiang Rescue Base, Zhanjiang Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Chikan Branch of Zhanjiang Public Security Bureau to formulate specific work plans for site, resident security, traffic, security, fire protection, and emergency disposal. During the competition, the organizing committee will send necessary equipment and personnel to guard the competition sea area and maintain the public security of the competition site. The Maritime Safety Administration shall coordinate and command the maritime security work in a unified way to ensure that in case of any danger at sea during the competition, the relevant ships can only be informed at the first time and dispatched in time. According to the emergency plan formulated by the organizing committee, if the wind reaches a certain level, more than 50 match guard ships, referee ships, support ships, etc. in the competition area will be temporarily turned into rescue support ships to ensure that all ships and personnel return to the port and land in a timely manner in the shortest time.
